I was underwhelmed with this hotel - the front desk staff are nice, but housekeeping is inconsistent - some days my towels were changed but the bed was untouched, I also left an empty Kleenex box upside down on the sink so they would know to change it, and no one did, I had to ask at the front desk for a new box after 2 days. ||I arrived tired from a long day or travel and wanted to take advantage of the convenient electronic key Hiltons provide to go right to my room. Instead I got a message that says "please stop by the front desk, we need to confirm a few details about your stay" which is actully an outright lie - its because this location chooses to collect a incidentals deposit that makes Hilton's massive global investment in digital keys worthless (at least have some integrity to tell guests the real reason). ||The hotel has a nice pool and hot tub, but a lot of families stay there and it was often overrun with uncontrolled kids. Also on a few mornings the door was locked or there were no towels. ||The hotel provides a free breakfast but the food is pretty average, if you stay at enough hotels you can tell when they are going cheap. Also the buffet was poorly maintained - it is open until 9:30, but on several days it was picked over and out of everything shortly after 9:00. If you say you are open until 9:30, someone who shows up at 9:15 should get the same experience as someone who shows up at 8:00. ||But for me the most annoying thing with this hotel is that there is only one elevator near the main entrance, and most mornings it was as much as a 5 minute wait to get the elevator, especially when guests are leaving breakfast and all the housekeepers are moving their carts around. There is one other elevator all the way at the end of the hotel, but its not much good to people near the main part. And unfortunately, the main elevator broke when i was there and was out of order for several days - that is inexcusable property management given the shortage of elevators, the hotel should have had it fixed the same day. ||There is nothing huge wrong with this hotel, but there are a lot of hotels just a few minutes away at comparable prices where you don't need to put up with this elevator nonsense every morning. This issue is well-known to the staff, as many of them told people to walk the length of the hotel to get the other lift when a lot were waiting. I don't know what the answer is as I can't imagine the hotel would invest in another elevator, maybe make it a policy that housekeepers can only use the far elevator so the more convenient one is available for guests? I think there are better places ot stay in Beachwood and would...
Read moreThe hotel was lovely but the treatment I received was horrendous. I'm writing this a few years after because I was there for my mother's memorial service in 2011. Unfortunately we have another memorial to attend this June and I am looking for a 2 bedroom hotel suite just like before.
So last time I did the research, talked to the reservation person on the phone and he understood what I wanted. A 2 bedroom suite with a living room in the middle so that family could be together and my cousin and her family could sleep in one room and me and my two little boys could sleep in the other room. My brother, friend and other family members had rooms there as well.
When I checked in about 2 hrs before the memorial they told me the room was not ready because then carpet was wet from a leak but it would be ready when we got back. Hours later we returned, exhausted and emotional. Now the story was that the ac in the room wasn't working. I said I just need the room. After more back and forth they told me that they had a long term family in there and the room would not be available! They offered to let us use a business or meeting room but we wanted to be comfortable and relax. They said they would put a couch and tv in there but there was no bathroom so we'd have to use the public bathrooms, which meant we'd have to take the little ones back and forth to the bathrooms.
We waited hours to be put into multiple 1 bedroom suites where the LR would not fit all of us at one time so we had the doors to our suites open and had to go between rooms to visit with each other.
There was nothing I could do and they didn't seem to care that this was my mother's memorial, family members had come from out of town and we were all heartbroken. I could have understood if they had been honest at first but the run around was ridiculous.
I write all this to say that the hotel came up again as I was booking for the June trip and it brought all those emotions up again. I will never stay at this hotel ever, no matter...
Read moreUnfortunately this will be my last time staying at this hotel. As a business traveler Homewood Suites is usually the best option but this one is lacking. The first time me and my coworkers stayed here a few weeks ago we were remarking on how nice the staff was and to make it a point to book here when we got back. Unfortunately this stay has been less than pleasant due to one staff member. On the second day after arriving I realized I forgot deodorant. I went down the the desk and asked if they had any. The women laughed at me and said "are you looking for a freebie?" I commented that I've forgotten deodorant in the past and it has been free and before I could continue she said "Well not here and pointed at the sundry shop wall and said you can buy it." I don't mind purchasing but it was the tone and the freebie remark that was rude. When I walked in and out of the hotel a few times after the incident I noted that same woman would welcome guests into the hotel but wouldn't utter a work to me even after I said good morning or hello. This morning I went up to ask for a late checkout 2:00pm and unfortunately it was the same woman. I knew what the answer would be before asking but decided to ask anyway because I really needed the late checkout (I had an impromptu zoom scheduled for 1:30).... As predicted she laughed and said "Oh absolutely not we are sold out tonight. We aren't giving anyone late checkouts and check-out is at noon." It was embarrassing as there was another guest standing there a as well. I had my co-worker inquire again and she was much nicer to her and asked what time was needed. After saying 2 she said that the latest she could do was 1. It's interesting that with the help of someone else she allowed it. There are plenty of options in the area and although the location is great and other staff are friendly the front desk can really make or...
