Dr Michael Benson is a wonderful urologist. After an excruciating discovering of kidney stones three months ago and subsequent three operations (inset a Ureteral Stent, laser my left stones and shockwave my right stone), I think I was incredibly lucky and thankful to have Dr Benson:

He is up to date in his knowledge and use of the latest technology, but also uses the best solution to each unique problem. In my case, Ureteroscopy to laser my 8mm and 3mm left stones and shockwaves (lithotripsy) to break up my 6mm right stone.

As a person with deep knowledge of his area, Dr Benson was very clear in describing the pros and cons of different choices. My initial thoughts were to just use lithotripsy, but I would now strongly recommend Ureteroscopy for its much lower failure rate and immediate stone removal.

He went beyond treatment to prevention. He spent time to go over the results of a (Litholink) 24-hour urine collection (in my case I need to focus on oxalate...

This Past December, I had 4 kidney stones within the ureter and was transported to Hackensack University Hospital where Dr. Benson happened to be the Urologist on call. Dr. Benson took the time to speak to me about my issues, concerns etc. Unlike most Dr.s , Dr Benson (felt my pain) , didn't just give me meds, send on way and hope to pass..
