Visited the new location on Girard Street for a dip manicure. Appointment was at 5pm, I wasn't seen until 5:15. They serve lumpia & fruit while you wait, which is unusual but welcomed! Tina did my nails. The nail polish removal process was a little heavy handed, and I felt the drill burn/heat a few times. No cuticle care/cleaning was done.
Tina informed me the dip powder example nails weren't made yet, so I would have to choose my color from a big box of new dip powder tubs. I sat on the ground and picked through colors until I found a purple powder that looked bright, almost neon. After she put on a coat or two, I noticed it was looking extremely dark. I mentioned it, asking if it would lighten, and she gave an uncertain response and kept painting. I'll admit I should have pushed back at this point, but I assumed as the nail technician, she should be familiar with her materials & be able to advise me on color. She said even if it turned out darker than I wanted, she could fix it with a gel top coat.
We continued and it became clear it was NOT the color I selected. It was more than several shades darker, practically wine colored - something I would have had no way of knowing from the powder color itself. However, I'd been there an hour already and wasn't interested in staying longer, and she wasn't offering to fix or adjust the color in any way, so I ended up having to keep it. In the end, a gel top coat wasn't an option since it would just look muddy on top of an already dark color.
The manicure itself was fairly average (no nail thickness shaping or cuticle care, and sloppy edges) & reasonable for the price I paid ($40 after a 20% off promotion during their first week at the new location). I would have given a 3/3.5 star review, but the mishap with the color really frustrated me.
Update: 4 days in and I have chips...
Read moreSo I had read previous reviews and decided to try this place out, based on the complimentary fruit/ spring roll plate and Glas of wine or mimosa I read about, as well as people said they really paid attention to detail and took their time. My experience was, yeah the fruit and mimosa was a nice touch however, that was the quickest pedicure I've ever gotten. I read in a review that they charged $35 for a deluxe pedicure, but also other reviews said they were charged more as was I $40. Before making an appointment I sent a message on their FB asking for their prices. the reply I got said they were all posted on their website. Nope not a price anywhere on their website or FB. I replied again asking the price for a deluxe pedicure and dip nails and received no reply. The actual pedicure, I got a guy, he was nice and chatty and it was nice that they paid attention to the customer in that way instead of talking to each other. Nails seemed even for the most part, but no attention to my cuticles at all. Did a good job of smoothing the calluses on my feet, then put the paraffin wax booties on my feet and put a sea salt scrub on my legs. that was quickly rinsed off and then he very quickly rubbed hot Stones over my legs, which they felt good, but there was no actual massaging, which would have been better. Then he took the paraffin wax booties off which weren't even dry yet and then painted my toes. I was In And out in less than 40min. I've never even had a reg pedicure that short and I left with WET toes. They also do NOT have their prices posted in the shop either. Overall it was mediocre at best and not worth $40. I'll stick with my reg place that takes care of my cuticles and actually massages each side for 10 to 15 min each side and only charges me $25 for a better pedicure...
Read moreUPDATE: this set also severely damaged my natural nails, all of them were thin as paper and very bendy. My pinky nail broke in half underneath the acrylic(without the acrylic itself breaking) it was very painful and I almost lost the entire natural nail underneath. My other pinky nail also had broke in half and almost my whole natural nail was no longer attached to the skin underneath. I am still dealing with the aftermath to this date, and having to take extra care to maintain the health and regrowth of my nails. I do not believe this place should still be in business nor would I ever recommend anybody to them
I went here because I wanted acrylics done for my birthday and the reviews/photos looked good. I had an appointment set up. After she started my nails there were a few walk ins, and rather than telling them to come another time she sat them as well. She was working on three ppl at the same time. It felt very rushed and she didn’t take the time to shape my nails or apply the acrylic properly. She got the acrylic on my fingers and she didn’t clean up the underside of my nails so there’s still acrylic bits underneath the nails. They didn’t have the right materials or colors to do my original idea, I switched to a different reference pic and they also didn’t have the right base color. The difference between the quality of nails posted on their page vs what I got does not match. They weren’t what I wanted at all and I cried leaving the salon. The shaping is off as well as the color, it was a waste of $75 and 2hrs...
