Hazel Boutique — Attraction in Belmar

Poor quality and horrible customer service. I realize I am not dealing with Amazon and understand it is a small boutique which when my daughter sent her wish list for Christmas to me, I was happy to support. The sweat set that we purchased does not resemble what we got. The size was so awkward and my daughter is a medium and it just did not coincide with what we got. I requested for a return on the day after Christmas in which my items were not worn nor out of there original packaging. I requested a refund. I had to pay for shipping which was $25 because they were bulky and I even have an account which reflected a discount. Then all they gave me was a gift card in which they stated in their return policy that holiday orders were returnable. Doesn’t say only for credit. I tried to email them and the email has little to no contact information and signed ‘ Hazel’. I cannot recommend this boutique to anyone. I feel as if all the good reviews come from their employees and influencers because their merchandise is SO overpriced and absolute garbage. SHEIN has better quality and that is not saying much and I would never endorse them as this is the only comparison I can relate the quality too. I came into hazels just to look around. I was not greeted by the workers, instead looked at like I was an alien. All 4 workers were standing behind the counter chatting, ordering food, and trying on jewelry instead of accommodating customers who needed fitting rooms, or just help in general. I could see at least 3 different customers trying to ask for help but we’re ignored by the employees who didn’t feel the need to stop talking to each other to help them out. When I asked for the price of an item I was looked at like I was stupid for about a minute, then when I finally got a response it was fast and in a rude tone. Unfortunately I can’t say that this was a one time thing. I came to hazels last summer, and with a whole different staff, I was treated the same. It’s not just the employees though, the customers are rude and have short tempers. It makes the shopping experience uncomfortable, and unenjoyable. I ended up buying a pair of sweatpants, while checking out the girl behind the counter was actively yelling her food order to another coworker who then left on the clock to get them food. It’s such a heartbreaking experience to go shopping and leave the store feeling ugly, and worthless. The quality is amazing—cozy sweats you’ll want to live in year-round, delicious candles, ultra-soft socks, beautiful jewelry, and the most divine signature perfume. They carry Free People and stunning one-of-a-kind dresses perfect for special events. My daughter has found everything from her 8th-grade dance dress to multiple Sweet 16 outfits here!

We shop here so often that the girls who work here have become like family. They are always friendly, helpful, and full of great suggestions, making every visit a fun and personal experience. Plus, their boutique and coffee shop in Lavallette is a must-visit.
