I recently visited UK Gourmet in Bethel, CT, and it was an absolute delight. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted with the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the shop exudes, making you feel like you've just walked into a local British shop. The selection of goods is impressive, with shelves brimming with authentic British teas, biscuits, and confectioneries that are hard to find elsewhere.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their products, always ready to help you find that particular item you're looking for, or to recommend something new if you're feeling adventurous. Their suggestions on what to pair with what are spot-on and add a personal touch to the shopping experience.
But it's not just snacks and treats; UK Gourmet also offers a range of hearty British staples like bangers, meats, and pies that taste just like they've come straight from a British butcher's shop. Everything is fresh and of the highest quality.
The highlight for me was definitely the sweets section—the chocolate selection is to die for! I could also find some of my favorite teas that I haven't seen since my last trip to the UK.
In summary, UK Gourmet in Bethel, CT is a little slice of Britain with its excellent selection, friendly staff, and genuine vibe. It's a must-visit for any expat looking for a taste of home or any foodie curious about British cuisine. A...
Read moreIt's a great store, very clean. The prices are very high. 600% higher than in the UK. For example uncle bens sauces are $8.50. Cadbury 100g bags are $6. I appreciate folks have to make a living but not at our expense. What Americans would pay $18 for oreos? They don't sell oreos, its just an example. Even Walmart carries walkers shortbread at $4. It's $8 here! You can buy some items cheaper in stop and shop and Adams. Not a great crisp selection quavers, skips and p/o monster munch which are $2 each. US meat processed the UK way and frozen. $12 per lb for bacon and $8 for sausages. Worth a visit but bring...
Read moreIt can get very hard to find many of these items anywhere else. Absolute Irish staples like: Black and white puddings, rashers, Irish sausages (breakfast and dinner), Tayto crisps (both NI and ROI), Keogh crisps, Weetabix, Club flavors, amazing cheeses, and good god its Brennans Bread! Some shops across the state/tri-state have a little bit of this and that but this store seriously has it all in regards to foods and candies. It can get a little pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for in convenience, as you cant find half of this anywhere else! Worth a drive, cause its closer...
