My wife and I stayed with some friends at the IP this past weekend and were very disappointed with multiple departments of the hotel/restaurant.
Restaurant: We showed up to dinner at Thirty-Two and were greeted with smiles and open arms from the friendly hostess who was then replaced by a male employee who didn't answer my questions about the nights specials and just sternly escorted us to our table. It took 15 minutes to get our first order of drinks and didn't receive the remaining appetizer until almost 20 minutes after our first. (note: the grilled octopus used to be a large charred tentacle and now it's just 4 little pieces with spicy chorizo and peppers). After a couple glasses of wine, we were approached by our waiter and ordered our main entrées. The 4 of us waited over 40 minutes to receive 4 steaks. The waiter blatantly blamed the kitchen for taking forever/messing up the orders.. (conclusion: the waiter forgot to put our order in).
The Room: Upon entering on the first day, our room was very hot and the pillows were probably the most uncomfortable I've ever laid my head upon. I adjusted the temperature before we left to have dinner and hoped the room would be cooler by the time we returned. After barely sleeping, I woke up in the middle of the night, almost sweating, and noticed the vents were closed. I was barely able to adjust the dividers to allow cool air to flow all about the room. The remaining nights were fine temperature wise but the bed and pillows were very firm and uncomfortable.
Bayview Café: In the morning, we decided to go have brunch downstairs at the café which slowly inclined into a circus. The food was great but my wife almost lost an eye from the champagne cork the bartender popped open for mimosas 20 feet away. We never received and apology or condolences from staff after it happened, the bartender just went about his morning like nothing happened. During the consuming of the food, we had to endure cigarette smoke from the table on the side of us along with a drunk man screaming at the bar in the café. (let this be noted it was 1000hrs). We didn't finish our food and I got up to pay at the bar due to waiting AGAIN for service at the table.
Credit Card/Security: After leaving brunch, we went about our business and tried to make a day out of what we had left. I went to go pay for something in town and noticed my card wasn't on my person. Which made us think about where I misplaced it. After careful thought, I concluded that it was at the bar in the café. We then arrived back to the hotel where I asked security if someone reported a lost credit card. I was told the guard on the casino floor at the podium has it behind the counter and I would find success there if I looked. But success was not what I found, instead, I was led onto a wild goose chase going from the 2nd floor and back to the 1st floor, three times, asking on the whereabouts of my card. On the final confrontation with the security guard, he was then able to make a simple phone call to have someone bring it in an envelope 8 minutes later. (noted: that phone call could've been done on the first trip and saved me almost 40 minutes).
Infusions: Following dinner on Saturday night and the concert we attended, we came back to the hotel looking for a late night snack before bed. We settled on Infusions Café near the main lobby. IT TOOK OVER 45 MINUTES TO WAIT AND PURCHASE A SANDWICH, CHIPS, AND DRINK which ended up being almost $30. We didn't get back to our room until 0130hrs.
I've been going to the IP for over 13 years and, unless something changes, will never go back after this...
Read moreIf you are looking for a clean budget friendly hotel to relax your mind I would give it a try. However nothing else. This experience was horrible. The food at Bayview is disgusting to say the least, If you are 65+ and have lost all of your tastebuds maybe this is the place for you. But good luck not losing your dentures to the rock hard fried food. It was suppose to be a 15-20 minute wait turnt into a 45 minute wait for some hard over cooked bland chicken tender that was not edible, some gumbo that base was burnt and could not stomach. I Ubered to Beau Rivage they have an immaculate seafood gumbo there and great dining choices. You lose your food if you come for it after an hour but I sat down there for 45 minutes waiting so how is this policy equitable?
After waiting for my food, I went back to my room to enjoy it to find my key had deactivated. I'm literally braless, clearly have my card and the receipt from the restaurant in my hand. If im running down for a "quick" second to pick up food why would i have my id in hand? Front desk made me wait for security to escort me back to my room by this time my food was completely cold. The way the lady handle me at the front desk and the way she handled the customers in front of me was night and day. Very interesting! Never judge a book by its cover.
The customer services is lacking depending on who you are at the front desk. I took it with a grind of salt, ive been treated worst and what do you expect for under $100 a night rooms. You can't find that anywhere even with it being inside of a casino. But it sucks when you spent a fair amount inside of the casino to be treated poorly. Some of the drink girls are entitled and feel like its a right not a privilege to receive a tip. My drinks are already paid for through the hundreds sometimes thousands we lose at the casino. I am a generous tipper, but at the machines its hard to tip when you do not have access to dollars. This should not change the customer experience.
The "internet" is none existence so if you are coming here for business and expecting to work on your computer not a chance. Even when you pay for the $10 dollar a day internet it still does not work. I paid for the service around noon it didn't start working until around 3 and turn off on me at midnight while I was in the middle of working. I have to stay in hotels for the next three months Monday- Thursday and I believe I will be taking my business else where. Last week I stayed at the Beau Rivage phenomenal experience the week before that Harrah for an extended stay, Hard Rock and some others and this one has been the biggest disappointment.
I'm one to brush things off but spending 3 nights somewhere and not one night was decent is a problem especially after experiencing your competitors places that are literally less than 10-15 minutes...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here while he was a participant in the American Pool Association Regional Tournaments. This was his fourth or fifth time, but only my first time staying here.
The staff were friendly and kind, albeit a bit slow-moving.
The entire facility was spotlessly clean, and our room was immaculate. There wasn't even dust on the baseboards behind the bed! I know this, because I am terrified of getting bedbugs at hotels, so I always pull the mattress away from the wall, and check the seams for blood stains. I am happy to report that the mattress was a brilliant white, with no blood stains!
There was a lovely little Cafe in the Lobby with specialty coffee drinks, pastries, hot sandwiches, pizza, and ice cream. They even have a Loyalty Card where, if you purchase 10 coffees, the next one is free! I was there at least 2 to 3 times per day, myself!
The Bayview Restaurant in the Lobby had food which was absolutely outstanding! My favorite was the pork chops, which were pounded thin and fried like chicken fried chicken (which, by the way, was also delicious!). They also serve sweet potato tots, which were more like a dessert treat than a potato side dish.
The service at the Restaurant was always fast, and our food came fairly quickly. Our first server was an Asian gentleman, who was rather curt and abrupt, but not exactly rude, and he did his job satisfactorily. The next night we had a different server, Justin, who was kind, friendly, funny, yet still very professional and swift. The next server was a woman who was both quick on her feet and with her come-backs, and she had us all laughing comfortably in no time. The ancillary staff remembered us, and knew we were there for the Pool Tournaments, and every time they saw us, they asked about our standing and progress, seemingly excited for my husband's Team to make it all the way to the Finals.
The only complaint I had during our 5-day-stay was that there was this awful, thick carpet throughout the entire Casino, Hotel area, Lobby, Cafe, and Restaurant (basically, everywhere), on which it was exceptionally difficult to push my wheelchair. It was so awful that my husband got back pain just the first day of pushing me around, and I had terrible charleyhorses in my abdomen and back from trying to maneuver my chair, myself.
Finally, we went to the Concierge to ask if there was a scooter rental nearby, and he drove one out from the back, for men Apparently, they rent them there, so they must know how bad the carpet is. The rent was $38 per weekday (Monday through Thursday), and $45 per day on the weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
Overall, this stay turned out to be a fabulous little mini vacation for me while the hubs played in his tournaments. I definitely look forward to going back...
