TL;DR - their programs are fun (for kids) but frequent issues with scheduling are tiresome.
Registration is usually harder than it needs to be. The website is confusing and frequently out of date. The deeper you go, the more dated and confusing the UX gets. If you have an actual problem, you'll end up either leaving voicemails or going in in-person (the guy at the front desk has fixed so many registration issues for me, thanks dude!)
The swim lessons deserve a special mention - they are so strange. The lesson's location in the pool changes each session and I've been asked not to sit in the chairs between the two pools (even though I see other people sitting there?). It's so weird, I still have no idea where I am supposed to sit. I don't understand why the class "fills up" so fast the week registration opens and yet looks almost empty when it runs. We are probably done with swim here, it isn't worth...
Read moreThe park district is run entirely on auto pilot. They haven't added anything new in many, many years. You would think the same programs they've offered forever were quality by now, but they're very poor, with low numbers and over priced. Look into neighboring PDs Hi Carole, Thanks for thinking of me. On Friday I had support there. A staffer from a group called Rise From The Ashes. It was good not to be alone . I'm ok Glad to see you'll be at the picnic on Saturday. Linda be happier with the selection, and also realize what little effort BPD puts into their programing. I agree with the other reviewer that the communication is lacking, booth for advertising classes (oh, they don't have any innovative classes to offer) and canceled classes. Auto pilot park district! Look elsewhere...
Read moreFor the second time now, our child was the only participant registered for one of the sports classes, and no one even bothered to call us to inform us of that. A huge part of joining these classes is so that kids learn to socialize with eachother! What is the point of having a class with one child?
On top of that, the BPD made the decision to postpone the class by one week without even calling to inform us. I took the morning off work so I could take my 3yo to his first class and I arrive to find this all out. The office there is so poorly run, and that is a shame because the facilities there and throughout Bloomingdale are great. They need to get their act together. Now I will be signing my kids up for camps and classes at Elmhurst Park District because things are run so much...
