This was my first time visiting Pivot Point Academy, and while the experience started off a little rocky, it ended on a very high note. I had a bit of a scheduling hiccup during my visit, as they accidentally overbooked Camille. Without notifying me, I was initially assigned to another student stylist. However, I politely asked if I could still see Camille because I absolutely love the quality of her work. They informed me that no other appointments were available until the following week, which was disappointing. But then, they mentioned she would be available at 2:30, even though my original appointment was at 1:45. Feeling unsure, I went back to my car and tried to find an online appointment that fit my schedule, but nothing worked. Still in the parking lot, I decided to call back and ask if Camille was indeed available at 2:30. Thankfully, she was, and I decided to wait. After all that, I finally got my balayage done with Camille—and let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it! She did an AMAZING job. Camille was incredibly gentle when parting my thick, curly hair, which I really appreciated. She took her time foiling and blending the color, ensuring every detail was perfect. Her attention to detail and skill truly stood out. The final results exceeded my expectations—I’m incredibly happy with how my hair turned out. Camille has such a natural talent, and her work speaks for itself. I only wish I had more cash on hand to give her an even bigger tip because she completely deserved it.

The academy is very professional, the people are kind, and the girls that did my highlights and all-over color did a great job on color placement. However, my hair cannot tolerate bleach. Although I told the staff that applying bold red dye directly to my hair without bleach would give the effect I wanted (over 10+ years of doing this in salons and at home) they didn't believe me and decided to go with high lift color which I've never tried before. The high lift, although not bleach, has ended up damaging my hair. I had perfectly healthy and soft hair, freshly cut the day before. Now the texture has changed, my fingers get caught in it, it tangles, it's dry and crunchy, and my curls are frizzing out and not holding shape which only happens when they're damaged. I cut off the most damaged parts. A hair mask and my usual routine with leave-in conditioner hasn't helped. I don't think there was in issue with their application, my hair is just sensitive. Regardless, I'm disappointed that my hair has been damaged and that the color that was mixed up wasn't as vibrant red as I usually get. Overall, my experience there was positive and it's obvious people there are skilled. With curly haired clients, it is essential to listen to them and trust them since each person's curl is so unique. There are very few hairdressers that truly understand curly hair which is a constant issue for me.

So I went to pivot point last week for a balayage. I went in for my appointment at 9:30am. I showed my student stylist the picture I've attached on this post and I left with the other picture. It took the student stylist 7 hours to do my hair. My hair was 100% virgin. The student stylist had no idea what she was doing. The teachers had little to no input and didn't even jump in when they saw she was doing the exact opposite of what I asked. I was lifted to a 7 and my student stylist deciced to tone me with a 9 which isnt how hair color works. The best part was I'm pretty sure my student stylist knew she messed up because she turned my chair around while she was blowdrying my hair so I couldn't see the finished product well. Once i got home and saw the placement of the lightener i started to sob uncontrollably. I called the receptionist and she was more than rude, she said you do understand that your stylist is a student. She had no solutions for fixing my hair and hung up on me. I will never ever come back. I don't understand why beauty schools don't put clients with student stylists that know what they're doing. I get that everyone needs to have hands on but like my hair was butchered. The only way to make this better is to refund me the 68 dollars it costed me to have my hair ruined.

Definitely a huge decrease in talent and professionalism in the last few yrs. Have been going here for a few yrs with my mom on and off (we both have textured hair) and its only gotten worse. Both the last two times (dye) ive gone in the have COMPLETELY messed up what i wanted. The first time it was a blizzard and my virgin hair didnt lift the way they expected and since they were going home because of the storm i had to leave with missed up hair. And the other they styled my hair naturally in a completely different way from what i expected and charged me extra! without even a warning. The difference between the two is the first time it was handled gracefully and I was able to come back and get it fixed for FREE. The second time they refunded a PART of the portion to me and the ladies at the front desk (besides one who wasnt even ringing me up ) WERE EXTREMELY RUDE. And like seemed to be irritated. Completely unprofessional. And on top of that my mom walked away with like MAGENTA hair when she was attempting to go auburn. I literally fixed our hair at home for 1/2 the price and 1/2 the damage. And like all these other comments are saying their prices have risen CRAZY for like worse quality. I’m not a karen im not even like 20 yet lol I understand they’re going to mess up but they need to start being more professional about it especially given the prices. And I’ve had no issue with the students Its usually the cynical girls at the front desk or on the phone. and few of the teachers...
