Lake Wyman - A controversial area in Boca Raton. The city wants to move the boat dock from Silver Palm Park. It makes sense, bringing boats through the middle of downtown, when the population is exploding, construction is booming is less than ideal. Moving the boat ramp to alternative location makes some sense. However, consider the current location merits, proximity to the inlet and the attraction Lake Boca... Very convenient for boaters. Now look at the environment, the area of Silver Palm Park in regard to the Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Boca - this entire area is contained by seawall. The alternative location, Lake Wyman, is surrounded by mature mangroves, sea grass covers the area and is a popular hangout for manatees. Is this the right place for a boat ramp? For joggers and walkers the track is unique in all South Florida. It is a reactive track which cushions your walking and running lessening shock to the knees and the back. That means you're much less likely to get repetitive stress injuries walking or jogging on this track than a regular track. This Park is number one to me for this reason and many many other reasons. Read moreThis park has baseball and softball fields, grills, a picnic pavilion, tennis court, basketball court, playgrounds for toddlers and older children, restroom, and a .39 mile rubber track with exercise stations that connects this park to the nearby James A. Rutherford Park. Both this park and James A.
