This park is a lovely medium size spot with waIking paths and lots of birds. I walk here every day with the dog. Most dog owners are friendly and respectful. There doesn't seem to be much attention to removing invasives or caring for the many old trees here. Perhaps parks in Dorchester receive less money than parks in tonier parts if the City. Like all lovely secluded places, the park is an attractive place to party at night. Broken glass and other containers blight certain areas. Some of us regularly pick up trash, but it's riskier during a pandemic. I'd love to see a few more trash barrels so there might be a chance of getting partiers...
Read moreThis park is designed in a naturalistic style with paved walking trails, small sports venues, and jurisdiction falling under the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Commission, Dorchester Park. However, it is not recognized as belonging to the Emerald Necklace despite this being in the original plans of Frederick Law Olmsted. (Seems like a slight to Dorchester.) This area has free, two-hour, on-street parking located near a hospital and within a residential neighborhood. Read moreOne of the true hidden gems of Boston. This park is safe and well maintained. It is popular with dog walkers, and also has great walking and biking paths. Someone (I think a private citizen) will even clear the trails in the most difficult winters. There is a baseball field, t-ball field and two tennis courts. These courts are the only part of the park that could use some TLC.The baseball field is almost never used after the short spring season if you're looking for an empty field.
