I was in the process of selling my home and buying another and needed to temporarily store some household items. I've never used a storage facility prior to this, but in conversations with folks who had I was warned to be prepared to be sold something I didn't need. So when I called the facility I was prepared to haggle, but instead Chris answered the phone and he was incredibly pleasant, funny, and enthusiastic about helping me. I described the items I needed to store and he helped me pick the perfect unit. He was extremely patient with me when going over the various options for the period of time that I would need storage and making sure I understood the terms of the agreement. I live near this storage facility, but work in another part of town so getting here from work is a bit of an adventure. I shared this with Chris and he simply said just give us a call and we'll make sure that we get you in and settled. The dimensions of the locker were not 5x10 they were 5x9! Wouldn't lower price for smaller unit. Never told me I could hand pick a locker or that the dimensions and angles change. So we then had to redo a contract once I picked one out.
They wouldn't take my card for the monthly automatic payments so now I need to remember to go update it.
My first night dropping things off around 10:15pm the "garage" door entrance was wide open and didn't close on its own, so we closed it on our way out
My 2nd night around 10:15pm dropping things off, I put in my code and I wasn't accepted into the building, the code box told me to call the manager who's not on duty. Somehow we were able to pull the door hard and it opened.
So one time I could walk right into this building that should be protected, the next I can't get in.

Read moreI've been a customer of Extra Space Storage before, at different locations, and I have always thought the facilities were top notch as far as storage facilities go - clean, climate controlled, secure, up-to-date buildings. The customer service at my previous locations have been average, what you'd expect. I'm posting this review because of the outstanding customer service I received at this particular location in Milton, MA.
The staff - Derrick (manager), Paul, and Peter - went above and beyond to make my move-in easy, always very friendly and helpful. They even honored a deal that the telephone sales rep had misquoted when they could have easily said "sorry - take it or leave it."
