This used to be one of our favorites, along with the sister on the corner, Yellow Door Taqueria. However a couple of weeks ago we went in on. Wednesday evening which happened to be last night of a menu. Two in our party had only water and clam chowder. The clam chowder was different in that there was a lot of vegetables in it, and very look ittle clams. My mother noted 3 bits she could discern as actual clam. Disappointing but not terrible. However that evening and the next day the two people who had that clam chowder has unsettled stomachs which turned to intestinal distress. I emailed the general manager as it seemed potentially a quality issue with an item leaving the menu that night. No response. We've always experienced great service from hosts and wait staff in this establishment. We hadn't had a bad experience here really, once a forgotten appetizer that was both delivered at the end of meal and compt'ed. That would be a right response to an abnormal circumstance. But this, on a whole, was a very unexpected experience with added insult in that it seems to have...
Read moreI have gone here multiple times over the past year and I can say there's two main things to know about here: their pizza is GREAT, and NEVER get a cocktail here.
So, let's start with the negative: imagine getting Applebee's happy hour level weak drinks, but paying full bar price. Moreover, the glasses are not only small, but presentation is super plain and drab, and the bubbly drinks are NEVER bubbly. I've ordered, on three (3) separate occasions cocktails topped with prosecco—or even seltzer water—and it always comes out flat. To pay $12-15 for very little of nothing special, that barely gives you a buzz? I learned the hard way to only order beer from here.
The good: they have a fire brick pizza oven and it comes out hot, fresh, and tasty. They have an unique and interesting selection of pizzas so you don't feel like you're paying a lot for something you can get just anywhere. My husband loves the BBQ Chicken pizza here.
Aside from that, their burger is pretty nice, they have live Irish music on Tuesdays, and $1 Oyster Mondays, so there's things worth...
Read moreOn vacation from Florida my son and I paid a visit to my best friend to see the place that she has made her new chef home. Cara Nance is the executive chef at Lower Mills Tavern. I wasn’t able to fully appreciate everything that she has said about this restaurant until our visit back in December 2018. It completely exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing, and I can’t say enough about it. Cara truly can create dishes from her heart and send them straight to yours. She has a different appreciation for food. Food is fuel, but to her it’s an art. She believes in making food for everyone to enjoy, she especially loves to create vegan friendly dishes and show you what you are missing. You can taste the quality and time put into the food. I’m not one to compare a restaurant to a home cooked meal, but this is the closest it comes to someone taking pride in their meals like I do for my kids at home. The staff was so friendly and inviting. Definitely a must. Thank you Cara for sharing this with us. We...
