I guess how much you enjoy being at a place will depend on what you're there for as well as the venue itself..my first visit was to see the band Phish play in the stadium, and lemme tell ya, it's NOT the best place to see Phish.. Having seen fish over a hundred times this is easily the worst venue I've seen them at..(not really but.. ).. I bumped into a friend Greg who I had met in Los Angeles and he described it well with the word 'sterile'.. I guess it's understandable because we're on a college campus up in Boulder and they can't really let 30,000 people run amok on a beautiful campus like this, but regulations and restrictions kind of stomp down the energy, the building anticipation and excitement, and the fun to some extent.. The microeconomy that accompanies the band's tour is almost completely absent here at this venue..and that is, well, a bummer especially when you compare it to the normal Colorado summer venue for Phish- Dick's Sporting Goods Park, which is one of the best, to me. the parking situation is not ideal.. small, scattered, and expensive($40).. so I parked off campus, which h had its challenges as well.. the space outside this venue is street-like and while the campus and the buildings are beautiful, it's just not roomy like Dicks Sporting Goods Park and the sense of togetherness is not found here. the windy pathways do provide smaller private-ish areas for gathering though, so that's nice. disappointingly, inside this venue, there is a security corridor from the stage to the soundboard which is generally undesirable from a concert goer's perspective(big time).. I didn't walk around much, but it appears there is no main walkway in order to circumnavigate the venue/field.. which makes it less easy to get around.. There is an athletic field house connected to the venue where they had merchandise and foods and beverages being sold, and it just seemed awkward to be in there.. it was kind of you know an indoor track.. it's kind of big and airy, and you can't hear the music inside..its just not the room you want to find yourself in when at a concert I'm also not a fan of the trough-style urinals, like as you might find at beloved Fenway Park and other old sports venues.. it's just out-of-date and less desirable lol. Maybe it's just me but, when leaving the venue in the middle of a campus, there is room for confusion.. it's not difficult to get turned or to find yourself maybe not taking the most direct route back to your parking spot. I'd come here for a football game,...
Read moreLet me start off by saying this venue is spectacular, and the show we saw was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Everything else before this was awful. Upon walking 20 mins to this venue we reached thousands upon thousands of people just confused and truly just chaos!!!Security was obviously not prepared and just didn't execute any sort of clear directions to anyone. They set up 5 portable toilets right next to the GA entrance so people were in line for the bathroom thinking it was the line for the entrance. Then the line wrapped around guest services so it was so hard to try and get to them to ask where i was supposed to go. Once finally in line for the entrance security was BEYOND strict on their bag policy. They had a piece of paper and were putting it next to peoples bags to match the size. So many people got turned away once at the gate because their small fanny packs didnt meet the 4.5" X 6.5" policy. To me its absurd that a regular small fanny pack cannot be allowed in. If you got through security check then you went through another line to check the tickets. This is where most of the chaos was. Peoples tickets werent scanning and were being denied. Girls crying, lines not moving, security just overwhelmed. People were beinf sent to the ticket booth but there was so many people that they didnt know where to go. Once finally inside the stadium it was obvious that security werent communicating with each other and there were not receiving clear instructions. We recived news that the show was delayed due to light rain and thunderstorms. So i went to the bathrooms and upon trying to go back out security had blocked the tunnel to go back down to the stadium. THIS WAS TRULY CHAOS. You have people coming from the bathrooms, the concession stands all trying to go back down but not being allowed through. Then you have all the people from the stands coming up trying to come through to go to the bathrooms and get drinks etc. we would all see people across the stadium at other gates being allowed through but our gate apparently we werent because we were supposed to seek shelter until the rain passed. All this was just so unprofessional and awful. Luckily it all happened before the show and everything after...
Read moreAbsolute worst concert venue I've ever been too, and I've been to concerts around the world. They crammed 40,000 people into the venue all at once. Those who paid for specific sections were entirely out of luck unless you showed up the second they opened the gates. Going through the tunnel to get to our seats was literally like being shoved around in a can of sardines. The bathrooms were being used by men, women, and children all at once. It took us an hour (missed an entire set) to try to get water to drink before returning to our seats empty handed (they made us throw away our EMPTY water bottles at security). We had paid for the lower section closest to the field and ended up at the very top of the bleachers to the side of the stage. We ended up asking the people in VIP above us to buy us water and pass it down. Around 8:30 they finally had people going around selling beer, when all anybody needed was water. During the weather delay, nobody left for the shelter in place because we were scared of getting hurt by a crowd surge. Terrible terrible terrible. They charged top price for the worst experience. Also it was $40 for parking and $40 for a bike cart to save 2 of us a 15 minute walk from parking (can't knock the bike cart hustle tho). This was entirely the...
