If you don't like long reviews & do not wish to know the score, pls look away now.....😜||||Yayyy for the Moxy!||||I stayed here only after I didn't get my sht together in time & the famous Hotel Boulderado was sold out. ||What a happy accident! ||||Lovely experience from start to finish. Staff here are so attentive, sweet & kind. As soon as I arrived Danni was so smiley & welcoming - but also fckin cool - very on brand for the hotel. ||I explained I needed to get to the mountains via a cab the next day & a few hours later she had remembered, researched it & handed me a card as I was on the way out for the evening.||||Similar experience with the young bartender working PM/evening of 9th feb, (wish I could remember his name I wanna say Will, something one sylable perhaps...?) He remembered to ask how my comedy night had been, & chatted away both times I went to the bar, which considering was only for my free coffee & then a cup of hot water for my travel tea bags, was really sweet. ||||Girl on AM check out, 10th Feb really sweet too.||||Personal touches such as this; remembering guests faces & what they said they were doing that day, being showered with positivity & a homely welcome, are what makes a 3* into a 4, or 4 into 5* & I would always drop a star on a hotel review if I don't experience this upfront.||Free M&Ms in the reception for guests & a free welcome drink (might just be for hotels.com gold tier though, not sure), is a lovely touch too.||||Decor & atmosphere manages to be simultaneously & funky, no boring corporate Hilton bore here. This is a hotel so cool you question whether you actually want to go out into the Colorado cold to hit the local bars. There's also a little shop as well.||||The area is fantastic, because it is only ten - sixteen mins walk from all the things you'd want to see, like Dushanbe Tea rooms or Pearl Street Mall. And it's nice the area is a residential one as you get to observe local American culture as a Brit; seeing all the Kappa Gamma sorority houses, (it's a student area), made me giggle - it felt like I'd walked into a 90's teen movie. ||||I didn't try any food or the breakfast.||||En route to my room, I noticed they had a rooftop hot tub that was under refurb. As a hot tub fiend, that would literally complete the experience, should I ever find myself in Denver again!||Kudos to the Moxy admin team for remembering to take hot tub off hotels.com as a facility. I don't usually book a hotel without one, (unusually for me I picked this based on its proximity to the Boulderado), as I would have been mightily peeved to find it shut, had it have not been updated on the booking apps, during its refurb period. Some of us literally book hotels based on pool/hottub/sauna facilities only, & it's a huge pet peeve when hotels don't call booked in guests in advance to say a facility is unavailable, & give us the chance to book elsewhere. ||||The funky yet homely vibe continues in your room, where the design & concept is visible everywhere in the minimal Scandi-does-Japanese aesthetic. Even the wirings & workings of the toilet sistern are black pipes to match the rest of the room. Phenomenal attention to detail by its designer.||||The pillows were like literal marshmallows & for the first time ever in the US, my room was a comfortable WARM heat, & not like a fridge set to arctic temperatures. YAYYYY! (I really don't know what the USA has against WARM hotel Rooms and confusing AC systems which are usually a f*ck ton of admin to fiddle with).||||Make up wipes & swish toiletries a nice touch. Hair dryer & even a steamer for clothes was provided. ||||Gorgeous montainy Colarado-ey views! 😍||||To me, as a Londoner, my standard room was an adequate size, but at half the size of all of my Austin hotel rooms, you Americans may find them a little on the tiny side, & as such, I would recommend booking the superior option. It is rather funny when my own American Ted Lasso tour guests complain their hotel room is 'small ', I ask to see a picture & it's bigger any bedroom I've ever had ever. 🤣🤣🤣.||||PLEASE put biscuits coffee & tea making facilities in the room though! WHY is coffe tea & biscuits in your room a dying art these days?||I love all these modern hotel chains - & yes Gen Z - we know you like to to bob out for your morning takeout cup. As an elder millennial so do I. But you are still catering to the more younger minded, (cooler!) boomers & millennials as well - and we want a wake up coffee in our room in addition. ||||Thanks Moxy Boulder for a wonderful stay.||||Based on this experience, l will actively be seeking out the chain in other cities I am yet...

Read moreThis was my first experience with a Moxy hotel, and I hope it’ll be my last. While the manager described it as a "baby hotel" still working through its growing pains, the prices are firmly in the "grown-up" category, leaving little room for excuses.||While the Moxy Boulder has some appealing elements, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor design, rushed construction, and operational shortcomings. At the price point they’re charging, basic expectations like comfortable rooms, functional amenities, and smooth operations should be a given. Until these “teething problems” are resolved, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for your stay in Boulder.||Rooms: A Minimalist Concept That Falls Flat ||The Moxy’s value proposition didn’t work for me. The emphasis seems to be on a trendy lobby rather than functional, comfortable rooms. Here’s what you get (or don’t get) in the rooms:||* Underwhelming breakfast: The selection was limited, with no cereal, yogurt, or fruit—just a few savory items. For the price, I expected something more akin to the lovely breakfast buffet you’d find at, say, an Embassy Suites.|* Scant storage: No cupboards, just a row of pegs with only four hangers supplied.|* Few amenities: No iron, fridge, or microwave. Want hot water? You’ll need to trek to the lobby and carry it back. Want an iron? You’ll need to find the well-hidden communal supply closet.|* Questionable comfort: Synthetic bedding that felt sweaty and uncomfortable.|* No curtains: Blackout blinds only—no sheer curtains. You’re forced to choose between natural light and privacy.|* Fire alarm: A blinking in-room fire alarm directly above the bed makes restful sleep difficult.|* Air conditioning: The thermostat allows you to set the temperature to 65°F, but the room never gets cooler than 67°F—a limitation apparently set for the entire hotel.|* Usability issues: The shower head is mounted so high (6'7" at its lowest point) that it’s inaccessible for anyone under 5'2". The room’s light switches are confusing, and the bathroom lights aren’t even controlled by the so-called “master switch” at the entrance. (I never figured out what the other entrance switch did.)||Kudos Where Due||Not everything was bad. Here are a few highlights:||* Lighting and Windows: The in-room lighting was excellent, and the large windows with high ceilings were a nice touch.|* Elevator Service: With only three floors, the two elevators were fast and efficient.|* Retro Touches: I appreciated the notepad and pen provided in the room—a nostalgic throwback.||The staff were generally kind and helpful. A few standout examples include:||* A front desk clerk who promptly sent hangers and a mini-fridge after I mentioned their absence.|* A housekeeping supervisor who patiently explained the light switches and directed me to a supply closet.|* A maintenance engineer who made multiple visits to fix issues in my room.|* A night desk clerk who brewed me fresh decaf coffee when none was available in the lobby urns.||Construction and Operational Issues||The hotel seems to have been rushed during construction, leading to several problems:||* Shoddy Work: Tiles on the skywalk between wings weren’t laid flush, causing me to trip on a raised edge.|* Leaks: There have been reports of water leakage into room ceilings.|* Ironing Setup: The ironing board I found was bent and barely usable. When I tried to use it, it barely fit on the tiny desk, forcing me to balance the iron on the bed.|Operationally, the hotel struggled to meet basic expectations:|* Towels and Blankets: Despite requesting extra towels during booking, none were provided. The extra blanket I requested at check-in wasn’t available in the supply closet I was directed to.|* Printer Issues: I couldn’t print my boarding pass because the shared printer was out of toner and had been for some time.|* Coffee Service: The complimentary early-morning coffee was only regular—no decaf available.|* Staff Morale: Three different employees confided in me that they were so frustrated with the hotel’s issues that they were...
