Honestly this was the worst interaction I’ve ever had at a storefront. I have dealt with this employee every time that I have gone into this GameHaven location. First I called the store to see if they had any Pokemon available at the store. Right off the bat this employee was bothered that I asked at all and that I also didn’t know what type of Pokemon product I was looking for. I told him I was nearby and was coming in the store. Me my wife and my two boys were the ones who came in, we were extremely respectful and kind and asked where the Pokemon were. He said “down there” in a very passive aggressive way. As I was looking I noticed they had a Booster Box of Destined Rivals. I asked if I could buy the booster box and he was so beyond rude. He said: “I already told you on the phone that you can’t get any booster boxes ok??” ……I couldn’t believe he was mad after I so kindly asked. His tone, his body language, and honestly just his whole attitude was disgusting. To the point I had to say “sorry bro I was just asking?”. I found it beyond inappropriate that he was not only rude to me but to my entire family. My two boys really wanted Pokemon and because this guy had to take his bad attitude out on my family we had to walk away. I was so uncomfortable and felt so attacked that I had to make the decision and leave the store. Thanks for disrespecting and disappointing my boys who just wanted some cards. The employee had an avatar tattoo on his head and honestly I would hope that the manager or owner of this location made it right and apologized to me and my family. I will not be returning and I will not be recommending this store to anyone. I have also noticed that there are a number of horrible reviews for this location. There are reply’s to each review “apologizing” but honestly after going through what I went through today I find it to be fake and a quick run around apology. Take ownership and change your attitude. These customers take their time to come to your store and buy from you. Have the decency to show them respect and care. You are far from it bud. Go to DC Sports cards and collectibles down the street. They have great people who actually care. Also have good Pokemon selections as well. Hope to get an actual apology....
Read morePros: Large selection of TCG and Board Game product - For an out-of-the-way shop located above SLC, the heart of Utah, they carry almost anything you would go to a hobby shop looking for Clean Space - While being a smaller shop they keep it incredibly tidy. There is not a lot of redundancy in their display and everything is kept in a position that is easy to see, as well as their space to sit is very spacious for being a small shop. Friendly Staff - The staff at this location is extremely conversational and good for helping newer players not get caught up in the ever increasing production of low-quality product. They almost always greet you upon entering, and usually strike as Non-Judgmental; a growing problem within most TCG communities.
Cons: x Incentivizing competitive play within casual formats - This location does great at keeping entry costs for tournaments low; However I notice specifically with "Casual EDH nights" they incentivize the win by procuring rewards, and then turn their later weekend date into Competitive EDH. How is it casual if there is insentivation to win? This, however is more of a pet-peeve then something that can really be held against them. x Product Price Inflation: I have invested quite a bit of money into this store, however I have noticed most items will have a price hike of 5-10 dollars more then market pricing for the product directly. This is not a bad thing, however over time it tends to drain more money when there doesn't seem to be much change directly in store with the added value to push past this point. x Out of the way - As lightly touched upon before, the location does not provide what could be considered out of the usual for a game store. Thus, with its location, it tends to gain less traction then competing stores that have more upsides.
Overall, this store is a great place to go for an off the cuff purchase or a free night of fun, but with the prices above average and the skewed perspective on the term Casual, I would set your sights a little deeper into the Utah valley. However, with a bit of an extra incentive to go, like more community-welcomed interaction, or a larger selection of harder-to-find product, this could be the...

The conversation was very insightful and productive and I look forward to seeing how they handle things in the future. Changed from 2 to 4 stars, as everyone deserves a second chance and the employees at this store, as well as for the whole of Game Haven, came into this situation wanting to do whatever was needed to make it better.
Today, I came here for the Set 4 Championship of Lorcana. First, and most importantly, I need to make it clear that I do not blame the guy working today for anything that transpired. I feel that employee was set up to fail and was just doing his best with the bad hand he was dealt. That being said, this event was a mess. Overbooking and miscommunications: People that called the store were told different things. I was told we had to pay in person to sign up. A friend of mine was told he was "on the list and had a spot" and could pay when he got there. When they arrived this morning, having driven up from Salt Lake, and was told that, since he hadn't paid yet and they were overbooked, he was out of luck. Judging: There was no judge assigned to the event. I am aware of at least 3 people that had offered to judge this event earlier in the week so I know it's not a lack of available people. In this case, it was a complete failure of the organizers to coordinate. This led to the same employee, since there was only one working the whole store, to also have to be the judge. Poor guy didn't know the first thing about Lorcana. So he's trying to read the rules while also being called to make rulings. This led to bad calls as well as people doing judge calls for the people around them rather than getting official rulings. Whoever was in charge of the coordination of this event needed to do better. This was absolutely awful and I heard many saying that they will likely not be back after today. 2 stars instead of 1 because the employee there really was...
