Update: the company has amended the situation and I will continue to support the other locations.
I've loved this store since before it was a T&C. I have spent thousands of dollars here, and recommended it to many tourists for groceries in my years working in customer service locally. I am truly disappointed to have to cut ties over something so ridiculous.
Last night, I got home from grocery shopping around 9:30 and began to make dinner when I realized the chicken sausage I had purchased for $8.19 had expired 3 days prior. Yes, I cooked half the package because I guess I don't value my life that much, I was hungry.
Today I went in to try to get some of my money back. I talked to Stephanie, who told me that the only way I could be refunded was if I brought the sausage back so they could resell it.
...
What?
First of all, that's gross. At this point, it's four days expired. She told me, "well, otherwise we don't know if you used it or not." Is that a crime? Could I not just be refunded the amount that they would have marked it down? I have to pay full price ($8.19!) because I wrongly trusted the store to sell me quality produce?
So I suppose I had two options last night. I could have gotten home after my long day, seen the expiration date, and gone back out into the night, barged in at 9:58, 2 minutes before close, and tried to do some kind of exchange. That was the only chicken sausage in the store, by the way. Or, I could have just not made dinner. I guess from a financial standpoint, that would have been my best option, but again, I was quite hungry.
I will not be returning to this store, and will instead recommend the Co-Op to tourists I meet while working in customer service if I am asked for quality grocery store recommendations. Thanks for a...
Read moreCame in this morning for a hot sandwich and an orange juice. Grabbed my sandwich and went to a near by cooler with drinks in it and found no orange juice. There was a guy in the near by meat department named Aaron who I was hesitant to ask because he for some reason was giving me a dirty look but I asked anyway because he was the only employee I could see. He said very sarcastically, "well let's see, it's cold and refrigerated, ummmm..." I said "there's no need to cop an attitude with me, if you don't know then just say you don't know right?" Then he says to me threatening, "yeah I'll see you around". Are you joking? Did this guy just threaten me because I asked if he knew where orange juice is?? I hope you can find someone else who can better represent your store than that...
Read moreI love the new location, and all the staff have been exceptionally friendly every time I've been in. They have some organic options. I would shop here exclusively if their stock was a little bit more healthy (organic/free range pasture raised, whole grains, less really tempting terrible foods). I feel like the stores with a small organic section like this one suffer a bit, because if they don't have all the organic/healthful choices, the people who would buy such things don't shop at these places, and then what they do have is older and not as fresh. If they just had organic cheese, pasture raised meat and some organic whole grain products, they would have enough such options that I would do at least some of my grocery trips here! ...
