I've only been once, so maybe they were having a bad day. We got a coffee and americano, which came in a paper to-go cup. We were staying in, but okay, that's what people do. I ask for a refill and the barista looks at me kind of weird and says usually they only do refills for dining-in mugs, but she can do it for me. And the refill is only for 12 oz. I suggest she just fill my cup 12 oz. full, and she agrees. I finally pry out that a refill is $.50, which is fine. And, no, they won't refill an americano with coffee. I don't understand that at all, but whatever. We stay longer. I can't make heads or tails of their refill policy, but I go to see if I can get another. A different barista asks if I paid for it, to which I nod, because I paid for the coffee today and am here for a refill, but that's not what she meant and she looks at the original barista, who looks at me like I'm asking to unload the till into this burlap sack, and shakes her head. Oh, I'm sorry, no I didn't pay the $.50 for this refill, but my wallet is open and a dollar halfway out in case there is any confusion. She fills my 16 oz. cup full. I am confused, and feel slightly like someone getting too much change back, but in this case I can't return the change, because germs, so I take it and drink it.
I know that I am spoiled by City Brew's unlimited refill policy, but I would have had a much more pleasant experience if someone had noticed these first-timers and laid out the rules.
The art is nice.
Edit: 4-stars for the responsive owner. Hopefully, next time we are in town they have their cup/refill policy a little more understandable. Also, I'd recommend they allow refills of drip coffee even if the customer had an americano or latte...
Read moreWas always curious about Cafe M on main so I finally visited and tried the sage latte. I loved it !!! Always been captivated by all things sage- coming from North Dakota. Unfortunately it was a seasonal flavor! That’s where my experience started to go downhill but only slightly.
We tried the new apple latte thing. Was it going to be a cider or a juice? Is it a latte w/ juice in it? Is it a latte w apple simple syrup? We were perplexed because the description didn’t say it comes w milk and I felt like the employee didn’t really know either. I guess I would be right to asssume but wanted to make sure. The reason we were lost is because cider/apple stuff is popular this time of year and as far as I know it doesn’t blend w/ milk. So I wanted to make sure of what we were getting. I’ve never even heard of this before apple in coffee? Lol. BUT I praise the M Crew for experimenting. I love it!!
After ordering the new special it hadn’t come close to the strength of flavor in the sage latte! I could barely taste the apple. I want to go back and give it another shot. No literally, get an extra shot of simple syrup 😱 I will still give The M a solid %100 here for trying something new that I can’t get at Starbucks.
Cafe M is a solid escape where students and travelers can easily get work done. The employees are very nice and helpful! I just miss the sage latte!! Boo hoo me 😢

Read moreI'm mad that I only learned about the breakfast burritos recently. Every friend who knew and didn't tell me how good they are, isn't a true friend.
I've tried two. The Norris is great but the San Diego steals the show. I guess it's the guac that makes it my avocado toast, but for a reasonable $9 (at time of writing) it sure ain't what's keeping me from buying a house.
Pastries are fab as I recall, but all my memories of life before the burrito are hazy.
I see a lot of people buying coffee drinks, so they're probably good. A 19th century treasure hunter wrote a Bible fanfiction so I never got a taste...
