Kankakee location September 2, 2016 was my first and last time in that store. I was shopping around with my sister and we into Embrace because she was surprised I have never been. I looked around and found a wallet I had actually been looking for from Vera Wang and continued to look around. We found ourselves looking through a stack of art that had just been consigned and stacked. I started to look through and found a 3 piece set of 3D art that was beautiful. Black distressed frame, red back drop, and most importantly wheat, cotton, oat, etc. that would have looked gorgeous in my new house. The lady who worked in that part of the store was not around so I found someone and they informed me she had just returned and her name was Angie. So, I asked Angie if she could give me a price and this is where it took a very poor downward spiral.
Angie - It's a 3 piece set so 29.00 Me - I will do 25.00 and purchase today....(she interrupts me) Angie - (Tight screwed up face all pinched together) It's going to be 29.00 OKAY?! Me - (appauled) Well you can keep it.
I walked right out after that and made NO purchase. Had she let me finish what I would have said was "it was just taken in today, there has been no employee time spent on it, there has been no materials spent on it, there has been no floor space utilized for it."
Had she just heard me out and put any amount of CUSTOMER SERVICE behind her answer I would have still purchased for 29.00.
I will never shop there again and I can guarantee you that no one I know will shop there again. Customer service matters and your employee Angie has some...
Read moreSo yesterday I was there shopping and they had dollar item racks every where.....my eyes aren't the best and I wear glasses......so long story short I grab a shirt along with other items off that rack take it to the register to purchase nd once she tells me a price it's not what I calculated so I let her know that and she asks an Angie if she could give me my cash back and Angie says no instantly. ...so I'm like I haven't even left the the store so it's not necessarily a refund and it's not my fault it was on the wrong rack so going back and forth with rude unfriendly un-understanding Angie for a matter of minutes I dropped it and told the the girl just forget it and put the shirt in the bag which she didn't she actually had to put it in the other pile because maybe she thought Angie was going to be so kind nd give me money cash back.....so I paid for a shirt I don't have in my possession and have to go back to the store in the morning. ....hopefully they are open on Sundays because I didn't leave till closing on saturday. Read moreFor a consignment store, it's a little pricey. Look over clothing carefully for stains or rips as I've purchased things twice and found stains and holes. They claim to only accept like new clothing without stains, rips, or holes. But it depends upon which staff person is taking in the clothes and how closely she checks for imperfections. However, this place is clean, very organized, clearly marked, and cleverly displayed making it a fun places to shop through. It definitely isn't boring. Their furniture selection is top notch.
