Old World Barbering — Attraction in Branchburg Township

READ THE EDITS AT THE BOTTOM ok, just walked out of this place and i couldn't be happier! Sitting in my car typing this out right now....I've only gotten two haircuts in the past 10 years that i actually liked (I'm not kidding, i have the worst luck with haircuts, been told my hair is "hard to cut" so there's that. Since i moved to Somerville I've tried 3 barbers and didn't like any of them, felt like they really didnt listen to what i wanted and one was so bad i buzzed my head the next day, also i only get maybe 2 or 3 haircuts a year) and this is the best haircut I've had ! The Turkish gentleman cut my hair, should have asked for his name because i will be coming back to him from now on! i let my hair grow in the winter, and it was pretty darn long. Coming in i was worried because i couldn't find a good picture of the hairstlye i like, and because my hair was MUCH longer than what i wanted, and i was hoping i explained what i wanted properly....but he must have read my mind because this is PERFECT!! Can't wait to show this haircut off, thank you so much!! Sorry to write a book.

tldr: better than i could have hoped for. this is my new barber!

Edit: came back today, says open until 4 on Sunday, but it's closed at 3:20...?

Edit 2: came back a week after the last edit was made, 2:15 pm and they're closed but says they're open until 4.....I really loved the haircut I got, but if they're not going to be open when they say they are, I have to go...

7/22 Update - I like supporting small businesses, and I assumed yesterday’s issue wasn’t the norm, so I gave this barber another chance (before reading their response below). I was quickly greeted by Brandon who was extremely personable and gave me a great cut. I appreciate the offer for a complimentary cut but I have no problem paying for good work. I appreciate the response and the service I received today.

Not a great first impression… I heard good things about this shop so I walked in, signed in, found an open chair and sat down. I was immediately asked to stand up as one of the staff said he meant to remove the chair and told me “we’re pretty full in here”, then he picked up the chair and asked me to wait outside for someone to call me and that it would be about an hour. It was literally 95 degrees outside, so that was not an option. There were about 5 people ahead of me on the list but they were all requesting a specific barber. I wrote down that I’d take anyone. I’m sure there was some reason for removing me and the chair after I sat down, but it didn’t “sit” right as a first impression. I was not going to wait outside for an hour, so I left....

I normally don't leave reviews. I had the pleasure of visiting Old World Barbering recently, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best barbershops I've ever experienced. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere immediately struck me with its unique, vintage charm—classic yet welcoming, with a blend of old-school sophistication and modern comfort.

The staff are incredibly skilled and friendly, making sure I felt comfortable and taken care of from start to finish. The barber I had paid incredible attention to detail, offering expert advice on what would suit me best and providing a perfect cut that exceeded my expectations. You can tell they really take pride in their craft.

Not only was the service exceptional, but the shop itself is a true gem. The environment is cozy, and you can tell the owners have put a lot of love into creating a place that feels personal and inviting. They also offer a range of grooming services that are top-notch.
