Old Colony YMCA David Jon Louison Center — Attraction in Brockton

Honestly I'm here now unfortunately. The staff here has been good for the most part,some have been incredibly great, others have been absolutely terrible. Same with the other guests. There's so much drama here, and that's the last thing that I ever wanted trying to raise my 3 year old son on my own. I'm the only Male in a all woman family shelter, and and also my son is the only boy here also,they all have female children as well. Which in and of itself would be perfectly ok,except that the female children, both older than my son continually pick on him,and they team up too. Now the mom's are picking on both of us as well. There is one woman in particular who has lived here for well over a year. And ironically she seems to be the one that starts all the trouble. Her name is Mary and she controls the entire shelter. This should absolutely not be allowed under Massachusetts law. I have contacted the staff on several occasions, for the most part they have been very helpful. But like I said, I'm new here and trying to do everything right. I love my son more than anything in this world, I just want to raise him to be a good man. I have never had to rely on public assistance before, I've always worked. Unfortunately I have fallen on hard times recently mostly due to COVID 19. But people like this girl Mary,that leeches off the system for 2 years at a family shelter even though she drives a Cadillac Escalade....the system...

This shelter is horrendous and management is horrible. Try to exhaust the other options like rapid rehousing programs if possible. Fyi, they fail to mention to you that if you leave the state the funding...

This branch of the ymca hates people of the lgbtq community and will fire anyone who works for them that cares for the homeless families too much....
