April 30, 2021 - Often called “ The Soup Kitchen” or “The Food Pantry” by many in the Brunswick/Topsham area . . . This wonderful organization does so much more for our community! The Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP) started in the basement of St. Paul’s Church back in 1983, serving meals to those in need of food. MCHPP blossomed over the years, with a Food Pantry program that collects 27,000 lbs. of food each week. The community can pick up boxes & bags of food to take home. I LOVE volunteering in the Soup Kitchen! Over the past 5 years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of volunteers preparing lunches to serve 6 days a week each year. I believe over 11,000 meals are served by MCHPP each week to the surrounding Mid Coast area. Visit their website ( www. mchpp. org) for more info about their programs, ways to volunteer, or donate . There’s 16 or so professional staff members on site or satellite locations. I’ve enjoyed working with these professionals, and they seem to enjoy working with the clients and volunteers daily. The Covid era has been difficult, on the community, volunteers, and staff. Covid adjustments closed our dining room, we trimmed our volunteer staffing, but service continued for the clients. I miss serving lunches inside, face to face with our community folks, hopefully that will return. But the need continues, both for food donations, and volunteers to distribute food to those in need within our serving area. Suggestion: Continue to seek dialogue & ideas for improvements among the clients & volunteers! Consider volunteering, think of all the cool people you’ll meet! Thank you , Clayton & Cindy Putnam

They truly care about you and your loved ones. They make it very easy and accessible. You don't get crap food that is about to spoil in two days either. You get decent food and that's all food groups. They really have some good fresher stuff. You get to shop as if you were in the storem it isn't set up like your typical food pantry. It helps amencely. You are guaranteed to be able to make a meal.pf have a pre made one from the kitchen every time you come. It is just such a...

Wow, this place is incredible inside and out between the building itself and the people. Exceptional service and incredible hospitality I received for my first time checking the place out! I had people greet me with a warm welcome just upon entering the place and then I was directed into the dining area where I was served a 3 course lunch followed by a drink of my choice, and a dessert for a finisher! It's great to know that the soup kitchen is available to the public 6...
