BEWARE of this company. I was given false information on several occasions by Sallie and upon ordering a package almost a month ago, ( still has not arrived yet ), I was promised free UPS ground shipping 3-5 days max and then Sallie actually flat out lied and chose “media” with the USPS which is the slowest possible speed that can be chosen with the postal service... not to mention “media” services are reserved for BOOKS ONLY!! As a result of awful customer service, and flat out dishonesty, Sallie, (one of the owners mind you), promised a %20 discount on my $600.00 bill for the inconvenience and then completely rescinded the offer two days later.
In fact, here is Sallies text she sent me personally:
“Done. I’ll give 20% refund when I get back to the office on Monday. We are closed today.”
and then when Monday came around and I had not received my credit yet, I reached out to Sallie to ask why, this is what she said:
“Hi Scott, Can we issue credit after parts have arrived? We have an expected delivery date but it’s just an “expected” date. We have no control over courier’s operations. There’s still a chance parts will arrive this week. Parts shipped last week, we’re only 2 business days from order leaving our facility. ”
Again, another lie! My order was placed just before Christmas and they did not even create a label until January 5th. Here is proof of that:
“USPS January 5th 2019 - Label created - carrier still has not received package - USPS awaiting package - please check back later for an update”
Sallie states in the aforementioned, “we have no control over couriers operations”.
Really Sallie?? You have all the control!! Clearly their company is dishonest and likes to cheat the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE which affects their employees benefits...etc
Mind you, I still have not received my $600.00 order place almost a month ago because Sallie at Tap Electronics chose “media” with the USPS, (slowest speed possible), keep in mind Sallie at Tap Electronics promised UPS ground as did their website during checkout, and my package has nothing to do with media. Shame on them! DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!
I’ve also noticed some other folks actually made YouTube videos about this company completely cheating them on repair service by charging the customer for work actually not even performed.
The company NEVER answers emails or calls either, it’s as if they are CLOSED and only operate when they feel like it. I’ve never had a worse sales experience than this one.
TAP ELECTRONICS IS EXTREMELY DISHONEST AND BUYERS PLEASE BEWARE OF THEIR CRIMINAL MISCONDUCT AS A COMPANY!!! They will take your money and give you nothing in return!!

Response to Sallies response below:
Sallie, first of all I would have to say your explanation below is almost comical. I have not misconstrued anything. I simply stated the facts in my aforementioned review. You claim only 3 additional days were added to the shipping?? However you fail to mention that the 3 additional days were added to “media” speed you chose with the USPS. Let’s just clarify “media” speed again. Media is the “bottom of the barrel” speed with USPS and can take up to three whole weeks to receive a package using this method of shipping. Let me also stress the fact once again, media shipping method is for BOOKS ONLY!!!
Sallie, if you have no control over shipping why did your company choose “media” method, (3-week process), if you have no control over shipping?? Explain that to the readers of this review. Also, you say the “expected” delivery date is just that, well in this case the expected delivery date is going to be beyond the anticipated date of Monday the 14th because the postal service just informed me today, 01/11/2019 that the package has not even left the California hub yet! Can you explain that one??
In addition, you absolutely rescinded the %20 discount, (which would of avoided all of this negativity had you kept your word, and I’d be leaving a positive review instead now), hopefully this is a...

I was told to send the power supply to them with the controller for an estimate. I was quoted $750 for the power supply repair and was told the controller also needed to be repaired for $250. I paid the total of $1000. The power supply was supposedly repaired and returned to me, but when I installed it a large bang came from the power supply, and it immediately failed. I returned it to TAP and was assured that it would be properly repaired and returned, which occurred. I installed the power supply a second time with the exact same result. I returned the power supply a third time and was told that there was no problem with the power supply that it had been properly repaired there was a problem somewhere else in the piano that was shorting the power supply. I believed this and asked them to repair the power supply one more time, and I would attempt to get a technician to check out the piano. My next conversation was that my original power supply was unable to be repaired and they had in stock a new power supply which they would sell me for $950. I agreed to this. I also agreed to purchase a bench power supply to troubleshoot the piano with for $350. I sent TAP an additional $1300. The new power supply arrived and did in fact look pristine. I hooked up the power supply and was very careful too make each connection individually so that if there was a short in the piano I could determine what circuit was frying, the power supply. When I hooked the power supply up, it operated flawlessly. There was absolutely no problem with the piano.. I contacted TAP again and requested that my original $750 payment for the initial repair be refunded since obviously the problem was not in my Piano and the power supply had never been repaired correctly. This request was refused with the explanation that they had tested the original power supply both times and it was functioning properly. I pointed out that this clearly could not be the case since the piano is now working as advertised with the new power supply which they sent. I have paid TAP electronics over $2300 for a repair that should have cost $750. Oh, and by the way, just try and contact these people it’s next to impossible. Incompetent workmanship and poor customer...
Read moreUpdating this review: Sal is still a smarmy know-it-all, who continues to withold peoples equipment ransom. Continues to refuse quotes. Lets get one thing straight: If you've been doing this line of work for as long as you've claimed, you HAVE to have at least some idea of what it will take to do the work. It's not that difficult. But again as my review lays out, they refuse to do this until they can hold your equipment ransom.
I was unable to get Sal to provide me any kind of quote for the work except for "Labor : Varies on brand. Please contact us for more details. Parts: Varies depending on manufacturer rates. Sales Tax: 8% CA Sales Tax on parts for CA residents. Shipping: Varies based on your location. If the estimate is declined or the result is "No Fault Found", we charge a $90 diagnostic fee for Esoteric and $40 diagnostic fee for all other brands."
So I contacted him for more details and was told they would be unable to ballpark a number because they have no idea what condition the unit was in. Ok, so I sent it in for 50$ and got a close to 450$ quote for the repairs. FYI, bench fee for Tascam was 165$ for first hour and 85/hr after that, not including parts. Not sure why I couldn't get that info until AFTER sending the unit in... seems like they want to hold onto the unit knowing the customer has already dumped cash into the shipping and initial bench fee "if declined quote". I was then told that "our job is to take the unit back to factory spec" I didn't want it taken to factory spec; I just wanted fixed what I knew was broken. In any case, I already had at least 90$ in it if I declined that quote, so I paid the money and got the unit back. Tested everything which seems ok, but there are scratchy pots and the tape path wasn't cleaned. I'd expect for that much in bench fees a little dexoit and isopropyl alcohol on the tape path wouldn't put them into a financial bind... or maybe they forgot? In any case, don't send them your unit unless you want to pay to have it taken back to factory spec. Sal seemed nice at first but certainly smarmy before they had the unit in their possession. After that he came off...
