TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE! WOMEN DO NOT STAY HERE. If you experience a similar incident, please contact BPPD and reference this case number: #23-25277. I live 3 hours from this location & booked this hotel for an interview the next morning (I am a female traveling alone). I checked in on Wed, July 26th around 6pm and showered. About 1-1.5 hours later, I heard an aggressive pounding on the door. I looked through the peephole and saw a man on a cellphone who I did not recognize & who seemed nervous/irritated. I didn't open the door, thinking he just had the wrong room. The man proceeded to continue knocking on my door for almost 10 minutes while looking increasingly antsy (This was caught on the security cameras/tapes, fortunately). I called the front desk & they said they would send someone up. I am not sure if the man on the other side of the door heard me call, because when I looked through the peephole right afterwards, I saw he had run off. Front desk didn't show up to the room to check on me nor called, so I grabbed my things and ran down to the lobby. When security showed up for his shift shortly after, he found the man HIDING BEHIND A BUSH in the courtyard (near to where the primary elevator is). Thankfully, when I left my room, I happened to go the long way down the stairs on the other side of the complex (visible to the parking lot), so I didn't run into him. Security asked him to leave the bushes & he said that he was "waiting for his Uber" and quickly left the property on foot (as relayed to me). I asked the front desk staff if they could move me to another room in case "bushes man" came back, since he was still on foot and in the area. They asked me if I had "used anything" in the room, and I said I was only there for under 2 hours, but I did take a shower. They told me "Ooo, bummer, that means it is a 'used room,' so we can't move you." I found this odd, since they were not at full capacity (they had 3 rooms left at the time I was speaking to them). I asked if I could then be refunded to go somewhere else for the night. They said that because I booked through Travelocity, their policy was to offer no refunds ("no exceptions"). I called Travelocity & they said they could refund me if the hotel agreed to it, but the hotel staff told them no when they called. Travelocity offered me a $25 voucher & told me to "be safe" out there (:-/). I can understand they don't want people to scam free rooms out of them, but considering this incident was caught on their own security cameras & (later) by their own security guard, I'm surprised they didn't offer any assistance. The 2 guys there didn't seem that concerned about the situation (they sort of acted like it was just a "funny story"), and they encouraged me to return to my room, telling me that I shouldn't worry, because the security guard would "keep an eye on things" in case the man returned. They seemed surprised when I told them that I wanted to check out immediately & would just drive 3 hours home that night, since I had no money to stay anywhere else (I gave them my room keys). I was in that room for barely 1.5 hours, but I figure it wasn't worth fighting them for the refund. I drove up 3 hours again for the interview super early the following morning, but I'm safe. I filed a police report (see # above), so if this happens to another female traveler, they might be able to ID the guy based on the security footage of him trying to force his way into my room. PLEASE STAY SAFE. Do NOT use the elevator in the courtyard by the bushes and do NOT open the door for anyone you do not know, even if they look lost. (Motel 6 staff did not seem that concerned at all & you will not get any help from them.) Final note: Looking back, I think the guy may have been faking a cellphone call with someone to make it seem like he knew someone staying at the hotel/in that room or so he didn't look out of place when he was wandering around/following women to rooms. So look out for someone maybe using the same tactic. He was a Latino male & on the shorter side with a grey...
Read moreWhile I am in the process of looking for an apartment I have been staying at different motel 6s for the last 2 months, me and my 2 40lb dogs. This location was my favorite because they had a nice place to walk my dogs and no riff raff hanging out all night. However that all changed today. I checked in early (had to upgrade my room and pay $15 more) but whatever, for a one night stay. During check in the manager said there was a complaint from my last stay about the room smelling like dog. Well when you stay in the same small room with 2 40lb dogs without ANY maid service for 14 days and nights, what do they expect? And mind you its not like my dogs wouldn't let the maid in or anything, maid service wasn't even offered to me ANYTIME during the stay. But I wasn't rude, I just asked what she would like me to do about the "dog smell" since my dogs were obviously with me again for this stay and she said she didnt know. Well if you are going to tell someone there's a problem, shouldn't you as the manager have a solution? So I just said I would give them a bath as soon as I got into the room. So we already arent off to a good start. So my friend was actually leaving the hotel at the same time I was moving in and he actually just got an apartment himself so he gave me tons of stuff that he didnt need anymore, a mini fridge and some clothes and blankets. So I took those items from his room to mine. Then I went back to his room with my 2 dogs, so he could see them. While I was in there the manger comes up to the door and accuses me of not telling her at check in that there would be someone else staying with me. Me and my friends tried to explain that he wasn't staying with me and that all his stuff was in his car. She said that she looked into my room and saw his clothes. I told her yes, he had just given me some clothes but he isn't staying with me. Its just me and my dogs. Then she said the dogs had to go with him, which me and my friend looked very confused about. She muttered something about dog smell, to which I replied, I told you at check in I would give them a bath, since you didnt know what I could do about that complaint. She then doesn't reply to me but turns to my friend and tells him that she did him a "favor" yesterday by letting him stay another night and if she knew he was going to do "this" pointing at me, that she never would have done it. He tried to tell her that he wasn't staying and she could look in his car if she wanted but she was done listening. She just looked at me and said and you aren't getting your money back and you both need to leave. Now I didnt know what to do. She was the manager, so it's not like I could call a manager. Thank God I had extra money to get another room. But she literally took my money and then less than 30min later kicked me out. My friend never stepped foot into my room and yes I was in his room but visitors are aloud until 10pm and this occurred around 1130am. Isn't telling me to leave and not giving me a refund illegal? Without any evidence I actually did what she accused me of? Corporate or even the district manager, I would really appreciate you reaching out to me and help me...
Read moreBelieve the detailed and unique negative reviews; the many five-star one sentence reviews thanking motel 6 for the coffee and other trite compliments suggests bots compensating for the genuine reviews which are mostly negative . I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels around the country, everything in between one-star and five-star. I am familiar with Motel 6. I have appropriate expectations for what I’m buying. This is by far the worst motel 6 (and I’ve stayed in at least 30 different locations) experience I ever had moreover second to worst hotel experience in general. Immediately upon arrival I detect a strong odor of either meth or a very strong sour unpleasant and cheap perfume. I considered asking for another room until I noticed how many one-star reviews of serious complaints . I had to air out my room by leaving the door open for an hour. Apparently I was lucky not to get a dirty bathroom or burned cigarette residue in a non-smoking room. Additionally the customer service was incompetent and extremely unpleasant . Everyone seems to have an attitude, goes out of their way to be unpleasant/disrespectful, evidently feel no dignity for their work and resent it. I suppose it’s because of the difficult guests they regularly have to deal with as the cheapest motel within a significant radius with no security deposit. This attracts addicts and other criminal and/or shady desperate people in the throes of poverty. However not everyone is like this—I’ve seen wholesome families check in— and it is unfair to abuse well-behaved , well-meaning, and honest guests.
I purchased one night, planned on doing my laundry at some point until they informed me that I was no longer allowed having technically lost my privileges by 11am. I have done my laundry many times either shortly before check out, during check out, and afterwards at motel 6 locations. I have never encountered staff taking issue. Moreover during my unpleasant conversation I tried explaining that I had cleaned my room, emptied it out of all my stuff with everything outside by 11:30am having asked for a late check out. I was waiting outside with the door open as my phone was charging inside; waiting on the maid to arrive in which I would promptly leave with my iPhone. No excuses but rather a friendly frank explanation and assurance I did it in a way that didn’t cause any problems or delay . her response was a condescending mean-spirited attitude centered around pedantic complaints i.e. because my iPhone was left my room wasn’t actually empty consequently not checked out and so on. She wasn’t even an effective pedagogue; she contradicted herself like repeatedly claiming I was in fact not outside of my room when I was. I’ve never been interested in impressing superiority or disrespecting customer service. I’m polite honest humble and responsible. When I’m slighted I’m quick to overlook and forgive. She clearly had no interest in representing motel 6 like corporate wants to be represented by...
