Butler-Freeport Community Trail Monroe Parking — Attraction in Buffalo Township

Excellent trail north of Pittsburgh. 42 mile round trip end to end. Slight slope at times but nothing serious. Cool landmarks along the way like Jones turkey farm, with their honor system corn and similar meat freezer. Derailleur cafe is a nice break from riding. Nostalgia strong, was once a line that was in use. Walked it a lot as a kid. A derailed train sat for years after on the stretch below Monroe Rd. To Freeport. Very little trash on the ground, mostly stuff most wouldn't carry. Girl Scout Troop 26214 picked up tires, pipe, and a few odds and ends. Trillium blooming, lots of flowers and fiddle-heads.
