Every year, as soon as the first chill of the season sets in, our family piles into the car and heads straight to Callahan’s of Calabash—and more specifically, to our favorite part: St. Nick Nack's. It’s not just a store… it’s part of our family tradition, from my beloved grandmother who passed it down years ago, woven into our holidays like hot cocoa and carols by the fire.

Callahan’s of Calabash is a nautical and Christmas gift shop in Calabash, North Carolina—just north of Myrtle Beach—that offers everything from jewelry and apparel to home décor and the most delicious homemade fudge. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind destination that manages to feel both nostalgic and new every time we visit.

The moment you step inside, you're wrapped in the warmth and magic of Christmas. Twinkling lights, festive music, and the scent of pine and cinnamon make it feel like Santa’s workshop come to life. Each corner is filled with beautifully curated ornaments, whimsical décor, and collectibles that you just can’t find anywhere else.

Our kids pick out a new ornament every year—something that represents a memory or milestone from that time—and it’s become a cherished ritual. We love this place and have been coming here every year because it’s a part of our family tradition to pick out an ornament while we are on our family vacation at the beach. With that said, last night was the worst and most unusual experience I’ve had there. At 9 PM, my family and I walked in (after looking online at the time Callahan’s closed, which was 10 PM) and asked the cashier at the front to confirm closing time was at 10 and she said yes. We were looking at ornaments and a police officer showed up in the back room with all the Christmas items and employees starting turning off all of the lights. We thought this was strange but it was only 935, so we continued to look. No one said anything to us, but it was obviously they wanted us to leave the store because the police officer was following people around. We finally took a hint and went to pay for our items around 945 and I went to use the restroom before we left. A employee made a comment to me that all the lights were turned off towards that end of Callahan’s and she wouldn’t even know how to turn them back on... really? After over 20 years of coming to this place I highly doubt we will go back. If this is how you treat your customers, we can go elsewhere because of how rude and inconsiderate your...

Wonderful store to shop in. Christmas is my holiday and I can easily get lost in the st nicks nacks section of the store. I found a Christmas snoopy item I wanted to purchase and as I went for a basket to place it in to continue shopping. A sales associate named Dawn came up to me as said if you truly want to purchase this item she can get me the box. Since I’m also a snoopy lover I said yes and requested if she can get me a box. She went looking for a box and needed to confirm the item so she can confirm if she had the right box. She found us in the store and we had and additional 2 items to purchase and also wanted a box. We asked her if we could get box as well. She took out all 3 items and was able locate 2 of the original boxes and get us a box that would fit the 3rd item. If the owners/managers see this please tell Dawn she is doing an excellent job in customer service. We will definitely be returning and additional this stop to our yearly...
