Back Porch Coffee & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Calabash

Was here right before closing tonight. We walked in a 8:55pm -we actually thought they closed at 10pm. The only lady in the store was NOT friendly. She was on the phone when we walked in and we heard her say "Hang on , some people just walked in." There was no greeting or Hello or welcome. She asked if we were wanting to pay with a card and stated that she'd already closed down the machine for cards tonight. She proceeded to have her phone to her ear the entire time while she glare at us and ask us "Does anyone know what they want?" It was so obvious that she did NOT want us in there and was ready to close for the night. She had an attitude and it wasn't a nice one. To top it off, she gave one of us the wrong flavor ice cream. We paid about $25 for 4 of us to eat small waffle cones. As soon as we walked out the door and sat on the bench outside, she came out, grabbed the sandwich board -which said they were open- and then scrambled back inside and closed and locked the door. I don't imagine she is the owner and can't imagine the owner approving of her behaviour. Highly unlikely that we will return as all of us...

The first night we went there was great, but the second night we went there at 8:40pm to find the door locked and a girl at the counter that didn’t acknowledge us at all when we tried to walk in. We knocked on the door and waited, but she clearly had opened the register to start counting money early for the night and didn’t even look up to let us know they were closed, despite the Open sign blinking on and all the lights on.

Absolutely love this place and HIGHLY recommend it if you're in need of an ice cream or coffee fix lol. They have tons of flavors to pick from. Friday thru Sunday are the days to get soft serve (chocolate and vanilla) and it tastes AMAZING!! Sundays are buy 1 get 1 on the soft serve so don't miss out! The owners are so sweet and friendly.
