This water park used to be great. They used to care about customer satisfaction. They used to care about the safety of their patrons. I have the most painful arthritis (PSA) and sometimes it's impossible for me to walk a long distance. It's also really difficult for me to lift more than 10lbs because PSA affects my tendons and ligaments. After arriving to the park, my family and I were left waiting for the tram for 27 minutes. I knew this was way too long and there's probably something wrong, or the tram isn't working, so we had to walk. Which was slow and painful for me. Upon getting to the entrance of the park, the lines to enter were so long because they only had one entrance that they funneled all lines into like cattle. My son brought a friend and that friend had cash. Well, the park doesn't take cash, you have to purchase a digital CC. And the kiosk wasn't working, of course. It took us over an hour to get inside Hurricane Harbor and it should've taken us 20 min at most. After walking around the park for 30 minutes, we realized there were no more chairs available. I went to "Customer Service" and explained my situation and how difficult it would be for me to stand or walk around all day. I asked if there were any extra chairs that could be brought out. They responded with no and sorry about that. I said, I'm pretty sure your park has to be ADA compliant and provide reasonable accommodations to those with disabilities. I said, your park left us standing in the hot sun and didn't tell anyone the trams weren't working. Where's the communication? How hard would it have been to radio to someone in the parking lot to let all of us know that? The young woman's response...I'm sorry. I asked if there was a number I could call to talk to someone and explain my situation, she said I could look online for customer service email. I said, I can look online? I said, is there a phone number to speak to someone, she said no. I just walked away. At this point there was still not a seat available in the park or a place to set our belongings down, I was forced to purchase 2 lockers for a total of $38. After putting our stuff in the lockers, we were finally able to take the kids to some rides. We're used to long lines sometimes, but for some reason at Lightning Falls, there was a 2 minute wait between when the rider entered the water to when they sent the next person down the slide. 2 minutes?? I understand safety but 2 minutes??! And only 2 of 3 slides were working. This increased the wait times to over an hour. In the 25 years I've been coming here, I've never seen anything like what I saw. The ladies room smelled so bad I had to plug my nose. The overwhelming smell of urine was worse than any port-a-potty I've used. The lazy river was the cloudiest I've ever seen and filled with leaves, dirt and clumps of hair on the floor so I told the kids to stay out of it. The park was closed all week, surely it should've have been in that condition on Saturday. By this time it's around 2pm and we've only been in the park for 2 hours. And because there is STILL no place to sit, I was forced to purchase 2 double inner tubes so the kids could sit someplace, costing me an additional $50. We're now close to the end of the day and the only rest I got was when we went back to the car for a late lunch. The trams were working which made it easier to do that. By the time we got back into the park, we only had a couple hours left before they closed. In total the kids went on 3 rides and spent some time in the wave pool. For the price I paid, these kids should've had a better time. As for myself was unable to walk the next day due to the extreme conditions I endured. After over 25 years of visiting Hurricane Harbor, this was...
Read moreTerrible experience from start to finish. My daughter asked to go to a water park. Since Hurricane Harbor was closest to us, we went. First, we paid the ridiculous $65 for valet parking since I was having knee issues and handicap parking (in their words) is always taken. The valet shack is farthest away from the entrance in the parking circle which kind of defeats the point of paying extra for valet parking. The tram stops closer to the entrance. On top of which the valet told me that I needed another paper that the parking attendant never gave me when I came in. So, they made me walk to the parking booths across the street and get another paper for them, even with the receipt that I paid already in their hands. They didn't even have so much as a walkie talkie to communicate with other park attendants. So, I ended up walking to communicate for them with a bum knee. The customer service aspect was definitely lacking. For $65, you'd think they'd do much better since you literally pay for the convenience of being closer with less walking but alas that was not the case. It was a waste of money. Then, on top of the bad first impression, the water park itself was a terrible experience for us. Mainly the food lines ruined it but there were other things. For example, when we got in the lazy river, the water was COLD and the water level seemed low (lower than the 3 feet it says). Too low to swim or walk comfortably, imo. In addition, they overcharged for everything. I bring my daughter to Disneyland often; So, if I'm saying it, then it's bad. A plastic water pouch to hold your phone ($10 on Amazon), for example, was $45. Some upcharge is expected but it was TOO much. There weren't enough workers either. The workers that were there were allocated in ways that made no sense. There were two people working the alcohol line (basically handing people a can of beer) with only four people in line and the same number of workers for the chicken sandwich line except with 50+ people in line. Even with all that nonsense, we could have overlooked it but the lines for food were inexcusable and a deal breaker. No kidding, the workers took 15-20 minutes per order in our line. We timed it. There was over a hundred people for the longest line and 50+ people for the shortest. You do the math. Allot the majority of your day there spent in the food line (2-hour bare minimum on the weekend). The website says no food and no drinks to be brought in the park, yet to get a simple chip it took two plus hours in the shortest line in the hot sun. Swimming makes you hungry. This was their chance to shine and it was the worst part of our experience. There was a sign for mobile ordering and none of that worked. Even if you ordered by app, it wouldn't have changed how slow it was getting food out. There was a simple hotdog line and they were STILL taking 15-20 minutes per person to HAND people A HOTDOG. After the trauma of the food lines (which was a lot like paying to be in the least efficient DMV line in the hot sun with no place to sit), there were no tables to be found to eat. They had enough tables to sit maybe 30% of the people who needed it. After waiting two hours in line for the privilege of paying way too much for food and not being able to find a place to sit to eat it. We no longer felt like staying; So, we left early. I'm not sure who is in charge of making decisions for this park, but it felt like all they see is $$ and do not care about the guest experience. I call on them to go on the busiest day and experience what the food line is like. Actually, experience the park and see what the guest sees. If they did, then there would be some...
Read moreSix Flags Magic Mountain, it is hard to say, but youâre officially forever off my list. Attending the park in 2015 and having not a great experience, I wanted to try Hurricane Harbour in 2023 to try to fix my negative memories of the company.
Today, however, was substantially worse than my initial visit to Magic Mountain. Getting to the park just after the opening (10:30am opening today and our Uber got there for 10:40am), we were welcomed to no lineup and a fun day planned for us. Purchasing the tickets ahead of time for $87USD each (2 tickets bought with my girlfriend and I) we quickly realized what a scam of a theme park this was.
Months prior, we had excitedly looked at the Six Flags website to see all the slides we could ride, and we were beyond disappointed to find that only 7 slides were open today. Unlike other water parks where they have a master list at the entrance with all the slide names and whether they are open or not, this park had nothing of the kind. It wasnât until we were inside, with our $15USD locker, and waiting 45 minutes for the first slide, that we looked around and realized just how many were closed. The simple problem is that the more slides that are closed, the longer the waits will be. Provided only roughly 40% of the slides were open, meant less attendees could distribute around the park and make the lines shorter. Each slide today had a minimum of an hour wait, for a slide that is maybe 30 seconds long. At times, the slides could surpass 2 hour, which doesnât logically equate to how short the ride will be.
Once we finished our first slide (the black slides named after snakes), we had headed to get food. Dissatisfied enough with how many slides were closed, we realized quickly just how many food venues were also closed. Waiting for 45 minutes in a lineup that was almost always at a standstill, we had spent over $55USD for a burger, chicken tenders, and a pretzel. The burger was ice cold, worse than old McDonaldâs cheeseburgers, and poorly made. The major issue with the food venue is that of the 10 or so booths where you can order, only 2 were open. Furthermore, rather than having a clear order-taker with a food runner, the person who takes your order needs to also get the food. This is massively inefficient as our food runner had taken over 10 minutes to get our food and and bring it to us, which also subsequently made everyone in the lineup wait for that process to complete.
Beyond the food, the floor of the Waterpark does not have any protecting layers to prevent the pavement from raising to scalding temperatures, like other Waterparks do. WARNING: If you do not wear flip flops at all times, you will severely burn your feet!! Fortunately my girlfriend had flip flops in our locker, but I did not bring such waterproof shoes to prevent this (as every other Waterpark I have been to have not used concrete floors that burn your feet, or at least used protective pads that donât heat up to that degree).
Within 3 hours of being off at the park, both my girlfriend and I were beyond done. The combination of the all the closed slides, waiting a very long time for barely edible food, and severely burning my feet trying to walk around, led to detest beyond a fixable repair.
If you have taken the time to read this review, please believe it is written with logic and not emotion. Heed my warning and do not even consider spending your time or money to enter this companyâs facility. The experience is beyond horrendous and I truly wish I could get my money back. Save your money and time anywhere else for any feeling of satisfaction or...
