I had my iPhone XR screen replaced here a few months ago. It came out nicely, but as time went on I encountered problems. Dust began to accumulate underneath the screen in front of the front camera, causing pictures to come out blurry. I came back to Metro Detroit Phone Repair and told them about my issue. They said, no problem and cleaned the dust out no questions asked for free. I thought that was great. But it kept happening. Over and over within two weeks of each cleaning the dust would come back. This did not happen before I had my screen replaced, even when it was cracked. They offer no long term solutions to me other than come back next time this happens. Well, today I came in for my routine dust cleaning. The employee said I need to leave it with him as he has other things to do before he gets to my phone. No problem, I just go shopping and grab coffee. When I came back he told me he has "Good news and bad news." The "good" news was that he broke my screen in the process but replaced it free of charge. I was not reimbursed for my screen protector that was on it. The only reason why I am giving the second star is because the staff is generally good willed and ready to help. My problem is that I shelled out a decent amount of money for them to provide me with a service, and ended up wasting my time. I should not have to take time out of my life to keep coming back and putting bandaids on their shotty work. In the future I will go somewhere else and advise others to do the same.

EDIT: A reply to the owner's response. My issue is that before I had my screen replaced at your store, I never had any dust collecting on the camera lens. After I had it replaced, the problem started. What defective part are you referring to? And if there was a defective part causing the dust, it was NOT replaced seeing as the issue continued to reoccur every two weeks. As for my visit today I do not see how my problem was fixed. I walked in with my phone that had a screen protector on it (which caused no problem the other 5 times I had the dust removed) and walked out with a phone with a new screen (that it did not need until your technician broke it while trying to clean the dust) and no screen protector. Although I understand it's difficult to discern whether or not a cracked screen is the result of a dropped phone and more often than not that is likely the case. However, I know for a fact my freshly installed (one week to the day) after market screen cracked for some other reason. In fact, I would swear on all that I love this phone has not been dropped in these past 7 days. Call it an immaculate cracking if you will but this new, $209 after market, iPhone X S Max replacement screen, installed by Jeff, cracked sometime last night or this morning and with no trauma to the phone.

Jeff, although polite, told me there was nothing he could do for me other than to take more of my money to fix the screen again although at a small discount. I had two screens fixed that day for a total of $286.42. Most everyone should know the markup on these phone screens, other hardware and accessories is borderline disturbing, especially when you consider stores like Metro Detroit Phone Repair buy in bulk. This means their profit margins are high and therefore they have far more room to take care of their customers or to consider exceptions than Jeff would have had me believe. This is without a doubt a defective screen or was a less than perfect installation. I realize my circumstance may be considered an outlier but I'm not a liar and that is what is implied when a good customer is turned away in a situation like this.

If this review gives at least one or two potential customers pause before settling on this particular franchise or repairing their phone themselves, then I will have done my part to protect another potential rip off in my community. Search youtube on how to fix your own phone and search eBay for the correct replacement screen kits. Sometimes they even come with the proper tools necessary to do the job right.

So this is a bit of a long story but here it goes;

I called these guys about a screen replacement after dropping my phone while working on a ladder and unfortunately the phone landed perfectly flat, shattering it. They were very straightforward with the price for a replacement and with the exact differences between the replacement screen and the original as well as the different levels. Having done this repair myself several times before combined with wanting to select the exact model and type of screen replacement (not something I would recommend if you don't know what you are doing) I decided to order a screen and replace it myself. However, as I don't do this for a living I didn't have the tool necessary to enable the true tone functionality which, although I thought at first I could live without, really started bothering me after a few days. Having called around this was the ONLY place locally that said they had this tool and could do it so I decided to stop by the store and see if they could help me. Went I went to the store they were both quick to agree to do it and for a very reasonable price. Considering this is not a standard request (and that apple would have laughed me out of the store, assuming the supposed "genius" even could understand what I was talking about), I was very impressed.

TLDR; As someone with over a decade in the computer industry and a degree in computer science, I can tell who knows their stuff and who doesn't. These guys both know what they are doing and are very nice and happy to help.
