Update… The owner just claimed my review is fake! I am NOT a competitor, if I was I obviously would suggest our restaurant if we had one. Beware of this place people, the owner could easily check his dinner records to see that this order WAS placed yesterday evening for takeout, the odds of someone ordering the exact items are slim, it would be very easy to verify if they wanted to and to actually care about the complaint instead of immediately replying with a lie that it’s a fake review, no integrity and no shame!
We ordered the “meat shawarma”, “shish Kafta sandwich” “tanoor bread” , “fries” and “garlic”. I can’t stress enough how absolutely disgusting the food was! I have Never seen texture of supposed “meat” like this before! The “Kafta” was rolled thin ground “meat” with a hole in the center. I took one bite and almost threw up. I unrolled my sandwich and looked at the “meat”, unrolled each piece and I was shocked to see what I just put in my mouth! I don’t know what kind of “meat” this is! It had hard white chunks throughout, grey and red in random areas and pieces of something that looked like white arteries throughout. I have NEVER seen anything like this! Although I ordered the Kafta to be cooked well done it was not cooked all the way and the texture was so dense that it was even hard to cut with a steak knife! The “meat shawarma” was the same as far as leaving us to say “what kind of meat is this!!!!!!!????” My husband tried to eat his “meat sandwich” and about the 4th bite into it he ran to the bathroom! He said he tried to convince himself it wasn’t “that bad” but the last bite had a distinct rancid taste to it!!! The garlic was literally the worst garlic sauce I’ve ever had in my life! The “tanoor” bread was NOT tanoor and to make matters worse it was hard as a rock and stale! The fries were even gross! Somehow they managed to make fries that were wet and cold! I am so grossed out and wonder how this place could even be open!! Management should be absolutely ashamed stealing money from people by serving food that possibly might be a last resort to serve a dog. My advice is to STAY FAR AWAY! There’s PLENTY of restaurants in the area, don’t waste your money! We ordered at the restaurant for takeout, the “food” should have been hot and fresh to say the least. We live 3 minutes from this restaurant! Spend your money somewhere else, Taco Bell or White Castle are 5 star restaurants compared...
Read moreI wanted to go to a different restaurant today. I did a search and found this restaurant and I decided to go. I never knew this restaurant existed. This is the first time that I have had Yemeni cuisine. I have a friend, Sam who is from Yemen although he has never invited me for dinner at his house. A true friend ? I’m joking. A great guy.
My family and I walked into this restaurant. The restaurant has a plain, casual, welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter Sala, a very nice young man, told us to sit anywhere that we wanted.
Instead of tap water, we were given four bottles of water. I have never been to a restaurant that does this. It took us a while to order. So much to decide from.
For our appetizers, I selected the : Samboosa. This is a crispy fried, triangular pastry dough filled with ground beef infused with spices, herbs, and vegetables. French Fries. Don’t judge, my young daughter wanted them. My son decided on the Fahsah, a traditional dish of shredded lamb, gravy and mashed potatoes served bubbling hot in a clay bowl. A very impressive presentation. I selected the Chicken Agdah which is a Yemeni-style stew cooked with chunks of chicken, carrots, potatoes, onion & parsley. This dish came with two sides, so I selected the Lentil Soup and Yellow Basmati Rice. My daughter and wife selected the Fattoush salad. One with grilled chicken and the other one with beef Shawarma. When dinner was brought, it also included Tandoori bread, Garlic sauce, Tomato sauce( like Mexican salsa but better ) Everything that we had came in large portions. The food was very tasty and the spices in the food elevated our culinary experience to a whole new realm. The star of the show was the Fahsah. I felt sorry for my son because we kept sampling his dinner. Well, not that sorry. 😉 We finished our meal with Adeni Tea. A hot tea made with white sugar, cardamom seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and milk. A pleasant end to a very good dinner.
I asked Sala our waiter what to recommend for next time. He said that you must order Lamb Haneeth which is the ultimate Yemeni lamb roast that is slowly roasted, fall-off-the-bone tender.
Besides having a number of Yemeni dishes, they also have the expected Mediterranean dishes : Hummus, Falafel, Galabah, various meat combos, platters, kebobs, grape leaves, Shawarma, Salmon, lamb chops, etc
Yes, bring the kids. They have a menu for them.
Question. Will I go back ?...
Read moreThis is a very poor quality Indian restaurant with even poorer customer service. We were directed to the corner of the restaurant to a stand to look at the menu. we then has to walk up to the counter to order the food. The guy at the counter was more concerned about telling us that we had to order only once and cannot add to the order than about serving us. We had the 18% tip added to the order without any choice. We were the only people in the restaurant. It was still a long wait. We were not allowed to sit where we wanted to and directed to a table taht was not cleaned well. The same man would not allow us to sit at any other tables that we wanted. The dosa was very mediocre. The sambar was lukewarm and the chutney was not fresh and was ice cold. After we finished, we were directed to remove the disposable plates and place them in the garbage can. When I asked him why they charge a tip if they cannot do this, he tells me the tip is for him to get the food to our table, but not to remove the plates and clear the table. He also tells me that all this is written in the menu in the corner of the restaurant and that we should have read it. All this time, he is just standing there, not doing anything else!!!! VERY, VERY, VERY RUDE!!!!! I WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
