The Railroad Museum of South Florida is a must-visit for anyone who loves trains or is fascinated by history. The museum is housed in a beautifully restored train station and features a collection of historic trains and railway memorabilia. The exhibits are well curated and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. One of the highlights of the museum is the collection of antique trains, including a beautifully restored steam locomotive from the 1940s. The trains are displayed with accompanying information about their history, making the exhibits both visually stunning and educational. The museum also features a variety of railway artifacts, including historic tickets, tools, and photographs, which help to bring the history of the railway to life. In addition to the exhibits, the museum offers a variety of activities and events for visitors of all ages. There are train rides available, which provide a unique and immersive experience. The museum also hosts events such as live music and educational presentations, making it a great place to spend a day with the family. The Railroad Museum of South Florida is also a great resource for local history. The museum's archives contain a wealth of information about the history of the railway in the area, and the staff is always happy to assist with research requests. Whether you're a train enthusiast or just looking for a fun and educational experience, the Railroad Museum of South Florida is a must-visit. In conclusion, I would definitely give the Railroad Museum of South Florida a 5-star review. The museum is a hidden gem that provides a unique and educational experience for visitors of all ages. From the well-curated exhibits to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, this museum is a must-visit for anyone who loves trains or is fascinated by history.

A railroad enthusiast must-see in Fort Myers, Florida This Special attraction is located inside the Lakes Regional Park which is located off Gladiolus Drive and Old Gladiolus Drive. The park has several places to see and visit. There is a large parking lot so parking should not be a problem. The Railroad Museum and railroad are to the right as you enter. The museum is hard to miss as there is a large railroad engine visible from the parking lot that is across the walkway from a large building that houses the museum. The museum is inside a building behind the jungle gym next to the parking lot. The museum is free. It is a large room with several operating scale trains running around the center and near the roof. There is at least one hands-on display that you can see the operating console for an engineman. There are lots of informational displays situated around the room describing the history of trains and the railroad museum. There is a lot to read and a lot of history associated with trains, Florida, and the Fort Myers area. If you have a chance, I highly recommend spending a few dollars and getting a ticket to ride the train right outside the museum. For any train enthusiast this is a must-see in the area.

Neat, free, tiny little railroad museum operated by very passionate and friendly people. Large, slightly interactive train setup taking up about half of the floorspace and is definitely the highlight. My 3 year old was running circles around it trying to see everything. There are trains up along the ceiling doing laps, small exhibits in all the corners. It's probably a 45 minute visit to see everything, but ok if you don't due to short attention spans. We loved our brief visit. Only suggestion I have is to add a step rail for the younger folk. Those most interested are probably least likely to be able to see. There is a 1/8th scale track outside that is available for roughly 20 minute rides down a 1.5 mile route just off the water. My wife and 3 year old took a trip and apparently the kid was THRILLED the whole time. Super reasonable at $5 for an adult, which includes up to 2 kids (as they have to sit with the adult). Very cool experience and glad we made the trip.
