Our experience with City Mattress has been a very positive one. We have dealt mainly with David Gerhardinger and Ali Forte-Winters and have been very pleased with their knowledge and desire to find the best for us. We chose a king mattress (Simmons Natasha-KPPTM) and have been very pleased with it. We also bought two adjustable bed frames. We did this because perhaps someday in the next years, because of possible health reasons, we may need to switch to two twin beds. However, we discovered the mattress we chose is very thick, which made the bed high off the floor. My husband, Francis has shorter legs and cannot sit on the bed without raising up, which hurts his ankle and/or knee, so I (Beverly Oberembt) went back to the store for a solution. Tom Palombo explained that the legs on the adjustable bed frames came in shorted lengths. I looked under the adjustable bed frame in the store and told him that the legs on our adjustable bed frames didn't look like those on display. After some disscussion and confusion, Ali Forte-Winters joined our discussion and then called someone in delivery and found out that they didn't have the legs that were on the bed display in the store when they were to deliver our bed on May 15, 2018. Therefore they substituted other legs (larger in circumference, without a glide) for our frames. (End of confusion.) Now, today, May 24th, they will come and install shorter legs to solve our problem. I want to compliment Ali on all her persistence in solving our problem, all done in a very friendly, professional, and competent manner. She has done the footwork necessary to please us. Everyone we encountered presented themselves as friendly, dignified, and enthusiastic sales people without all the hype and razz-ma-tazz. Mark Schiller would be proud!!! His commercials are the reason we came to City Mattress.
Once again, we have had excellent service, both from the salesman, Steve Starr, who is a STAR, and from the delivery men who were very efficient, neat and courteous. Steve is so VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE about the products and explains the contents of the mattresses so well. It was such a pleasure working with him. Read moreThe staff was exceedingly rude and snobbish. It was the oldest staff member there, that I had the absolute displeasure of dealing with. I believe he said he was from New York or somewhere around there, I was irritated with him half the time but kept my mouth shut. We had already been to other mattress stores and knew what we wanted, the specific model and brand. He tried showing us these other mattresses that were 2x the cost of the one we wanted, they were all uncomfortable and had unnecessary frufru details that I didn't care about, one was "these buttons were handmade" is that what I asked for? No. Then he got fed up because we weren't going for any of the options he showed us. Then when we repeated what we wanted he FINALLY showed us the model we wanted, surprise surprise it's 2x the cost of the last place we went to. When we told him this, he scoffed, got snarky, and said "I think you both are just confused as to what you want." That was the last straw and told him we'd take our business to the the previous store, he followed us to the door and said if we could get a paper estimate from the other store for the price we told him then he would beat it by 10%, are you joking? Why would we ever want to do business with this company after he belittled and ignored what we wanted. Read moreNot happy...came in and picked out a mattress that I liked and I also liked the price. I told my salesperson Joe that I would call him in the morning with my credit card number as I had to speak to my husband (as he would make sure all the $ was in the acct we were using). Also made SURE I could get the mattress delivered on Saturday as that is when all my new bedroom furnature was being delivered...he said YES, no problem. When I called the next day, he said they were sold out of that mattress and I wouldn't be able to get it delivered until the following Thursday. I asked if he could compensate me for being without a bed for 5 days. He said he could give me 2 pillows...I asked if they were the temperpedic and he said no, just regular king pillows. Also during the conversation he sold me a mattress pad. I asked for an afternoon delivery, p.m. and he said yes no problem. Well they called and said they would be there between 11:30- 12;00. I was planning on leaving work for the day for the p.m. delivery but because it was so early, I had to come back. I drive 30 min each way. THEN they knocked over my mailbox and put it back up...backwards and when I went to open the little door to get the mail, it came off in my hand and the mailbox fell off the post.
