I wish I could give them no stars.... But, I had to give them just 1. The rides were sketchy. It seems as if every ride was making loud noises or they werent working properly. Some of the operators seemed a bit unfriendly and I believe the lady working the children's duck/pirate ship ride was racist. My 5 year old got in line to get on the ride, and the lady looked right at her, started the ride with ONLY one child. Once the ride stopped, she was trying to take tickets from another group of kids that walked up and I had to make her acknowledge my child 😡😡 she wanted to get on the truck ride and the operator told her she was too big for the ride and she is FIVE 5, he said she needed to be almost a baby to ride thar ride... The sign says tickets for kids rides were supposed to be 2 tickets and rides I would consider kids rides, they charged 3 because they were "family friendly", even though she was on the ride, alone and they didn't seem like they were built for older people to ride. The cost of the tickets and amount you get for the price were ridiculous for the service.... And the operator of the tasmanian spinning ride, I'm sure he was on drugs and was VERY paranoid, with the police walking around.... Bumper cars weren't working properly and one of the workers was yelling at the other worker about something not being fixed properly... The cars wouldn't move, with riders... The one worker stopped the ride to "investigate" and try to "repair" himself... Very unsafe... Won't be going back,...

I grew up spending my summers in Fort Fisher and lived in Wilmington in the early 00s. Back when I was a kid, the only ride at the boardwalk was the bumper cars. There was a darkly light and damp arcade - it was sooo 80s at the beach: trashy but delightful. Britt's was of course there. But it was otherwise nothing more than skeezy bars my parents were trying to keep me and my brothers as far away from as possible.
Not much has changed in those 40ish years. It's still a dump, save the same single one good thing going for it after all these years: Britt's!
I know those old timer locals down there love their ratty little relic. They find it charming in its own special way. And I suppose to them it is. I do get that. But they gotta get this: for the betterment of the town and island at large, it's time to let the next phase of the boardwalk begin. Raze that whole thing and build something worth going to. There is SO MUCH wasted potential in that space. The "improvements" made over the last decade or so are nothing more than Band-Aids on gunshot wounds.
Speaking of gunshot wounds, the Carolina Beach Boardwalk is the kind of place you find those.
Just spend your week at Kure Beach and hit up Jungle Rapids in Wilmington if you want a carnival/amusement park day...
Read moreAt first I was really impressed by the upgrade done here. Last time we visited there was a run down putt putt golf and a few old portable rides not really worth even doing. If we came during the matinee time, I would probably feel differently…$25 for a wristband is definitely reasonable. Unfortunately, we got there after 4 and could not do the wristband. Tickets are $2.50 each…that means my sons short ride on the merry-go-round cost $5. For us to do only TWO rides together plus his solo ride on merry go round it was $40!!!! He wanted to do so much more, but it was just ridiculous to spend that much for such few rides. I can’t imagine how hard it would be on families with multiple children!! They really need to reconsider the price per ticket and make it reasonable for families to actually be able to enjoy! We barely got to experience any of it and still dropped $40. I will say the Ferris wheel was the only thing worth it with the sunset view we got and actually a good amount of time on the ride so we didn’t feel ripped off with that at least! In the future we will only go during matinee hrs so my little guy can actually ride most of the rides! Side note- Britt’s donuts are still amazing and you can get TWO donuts for less than the price of a...
