Oh my... That's a pie!!! 🇮🇹🍕🤌
While visiting Carolina Beach from the Raleigh area, I found Michelangelo's here at the beach.
Mind you, there are a few places here... some sell "slices" of pre-made cold pizza that they warm to order there on the boardwalk. Some others offer dine in / take-out options. But I felt fortunate to find something familiar that we might enjoy.
AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!
It was late afternoon, a holiday weekend, and the beach and boardwalk were packed. I REALLY WANTED PIZZA. So, I looked at what was close to our Hotel (not wanting to lose my spot in the parking deck) and took a walk. I stopped in, but hard passed on the cold pizza that was stacked up, made who knows how long ago, and journeyed down about 5 minutes just behind the Farris Wheel to find pizza that I've been eating in Cary and Holly Springs since the early 2000s
Here's the kicker... the sign on the door said, "Pick up orders only." Not realizing what that really meant, I walk in and ask to place an order. The young lady says, "Im so sorry... we're so busy with call-in and online orders stacked up that it will be over an hour before you would get your pizza."
A moment passed, and just as I was about to turn and walk out, because they were SLAMMED, Oven conveyers churning, dough spinning, phones ringing, customers popping in for pickups... It was crazy! She says, "Hold on, what did you want?"
I said just a medium pie, half mushroom. Let me tell you. In less than 10 minutes, I had a fresh, hot, delicious pie that was steaming in the box as I walked back to our room. People we're staring. Perhaps because of the steam or my smile or the bounce in my step, but regardless, nothing beats hot pizza and ice cold beer as the sun starts to set in the afternoon sky.
Thanks so much for making my afternoon... YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!!! I can't wait to see...
Read moreIf I could leave 0 stars, I would. We placed an order in person (pepperoni pizza) knowing there was 45 min wait. We waited outside since inside was completely full. The red head who worked at the counter kept coming outside calling different names for different orders, she said “Mariah, Miranda whatever your name is” and we asked who’s order it was? And she said “thin crust cheese” and we said that wasn’t our order and she walked back inside. While we waited we noticed, every customer that walked out was complaining. Still we waited, since we already paid. We went inside since it became less crowded. They were closing 25 mins and we still didn’t get our pizza. The red head continued to see us waiting inside and did not say anything as to why we are waiting? She jumped on a table to turn the closed sign and was snatching up all the plates on tables. Still waiting. We watch another group of people walk in and the workers told them they are closed and cannot take any orders but another worker from the back said they had xtra pizzas that were already made. They gave those people a pepperoni pizza. We went up to the counter to ask why we still haven’t received our pizza yet and was told “we called your name a few times” and we replied with “we were waiting outside since it was crowded in here”. Again they called two different names that didn’t match our order earlier? We walked home to find our pizza was a cheese pizza that cold since we had waited over an hour for a pepperoni pizza. Worst customer service I’ve ever had. You don’t even want to know how the pizzas are made and the cleanliness in that place. 0/10 would...
Read moreIt seems nowadays when you choose to give a certain place your business, the people working their act as though you need to serve them. I initially called to ask a question about a menu item before it was delivered. Simple and reasonable one would think right?...Oh, not at all. The youngster (a millennial ) who answered the phone not stating me their name at all, stated : ' O.K. wait....wait. When you say a calzone with meatball filling what are you talking about '? in a rude and crass way. I replied ' O.K., stuffed with ground beef or meatball maybe then, do you offer that '?. The millennials response: ' First off, what's your first and last name, your telephone and where is this going '?. I never had any place ask my last name when ordering ziti and a calzone. I gave an address where I was on South Lake Blvd in Carolina Beach N.C. Millennials response: ' Woah!! woah!!, when you say South Lake Blvd do you mean on the North side or exactly on the South side...where?..I then replied:' You know what?. Tonight doesn't seem like a good night for you. Thank you for the attitude though I was given'... I hung up and ordered Dominos. A young man named Ian at Dominos in Carolina Beach was awesome. Polite, didn't interrupt. Wasn't panting with tones of aggravation or being ' annoyed '. Some college working kids at the end of the season must have no service skills left in them. Or, maybe never had any to begin with but were lucky to have a job. I would never give Michaelangelos Pizza and Subs in Carolina Beach N.C. my business for that...
