I recently brought my elderly mother to this property who is suffering from stage 4 cancer who wanted to see the beach one more time for a four day quiet rest before spring break. This hotel sits on the oceanfront and has a small boardwalk that could accommodate here mobility scooter giving her the entire experience. After checking into the suite and getting her settled, I did an entire room check and noticed pop corn ceiling fragments on the coffee table and food crumbs under the kitchenette table. The hallway lights were not working, I also found dirty socks and a can of hair spray behind the bathroom door on the floor? (Disgusting)! Apparently, housekeeping had missed it? How does that happen? I should say we checked in later in the day. The next day, we became aware of loud jackhammer noises reverberating throughout the entire hotel and room. I called the front desk to find out what was going on and to request a room refresh to recover the previous guests belongings and was advised that the hotel balcony's were undergoing repairs prior to Spring break. I was advised this would take place every day from 9am to dusk. I was asked if I had received an email after booking regarding the renovations and I stated I had not. I was also told by an unnamed employee that this concern was brought up with the franchise owner by management and the owner refused to list these renovation updates on the hotel booking website to let travelers know about the noise to inform guests prior to booking and give an option not to book the property. Clearly another level of greed unfolding in our country and efforts to keep revenue coming in. I attempted to take my mother out to the pool area and noticed that there is no egress for people with disabilities? No ramp only stairs leading to the pool level! How do guests with disabilities gain access to the pool? The boardwalk access area from the pool was also blocked off. We were informed we needed to go around the building through the lot next door to access the boardwalk and pool area? WTF! As a new Marriott Bonvoy member, I am not impressed! I was very disappointed in the lack of transparency for the renovations and lack of good judgement of this franchise owner, the condition of the suite which has a much higher rate, and the non ADA compliance of this properties outdoor public areas. The site claimed the property was renovated in 2018? The suite had an old and very used sofa, a rusted lamp base on one of the end tables, disruptive noise and inadequate housekeeping. There are also no room safes at this property? I mentioned to the front dest I would call back after checking to see if we could find another accommodation on short notice. My mother was stressed from all of this and decided to stay put as she just could not tolerate packing again after our long drive as she was exhausted from our drive. I was unable to find another accommodation and called the front desk back to advise we would be staying despite everything. The hotel manager became involved at this point and I was then offered a discounted rate to attempt to compensate us for the inconveniences. This property does not meet the Marriott brand or standards I am familiar with throughout my travels. The suite is not a suite by any standard and the property franchise owner lacks accountability. Do not stay at this property if you are disabled, if you understand what levels of standards are and are familiar with the set brand standards of Marriott, you will be disappointed as we were. We were not the only guests considering checking out of this property, another couple decided to leave because they stated there was no peace and quiet due to the...
Read moreVery nice hotel. Courtyard fans should not be disappointed. Those looking for convenience, comfort, and helpful, friendly staff should not be disappointed. You can tell this is an older hotel, but the maintenance of it has been decent. I would say it could use some touching up. The plumming for the room would get dangerously hot without having to turn the heat of the water up half way. You can see plenty of wear and tear from over the years in various spots of the room and hotel. The iron in the room leaked water. It was unfortunate that one elevator was out of order, and the other one had short periods where it wasn't in order. Housekeeping did not make our beds afted they serviced our room but otherwise, they did good. I was here for a wedding, thus, my reservation was part of a group block. My reservation was for a King bed, but my wife and I got 2 queen beds because the manager liked to keep people coming for a wedding on the quieter side of the hotel and there was no more availability for that reservation. The consideration for the wedding crowd is appreciated, but I would like to see priority for certain room reservations also go to the wedding party if you are planning in that manner as well. Our breakfast was taken care of for the inconvenience, and the breakfast was decent. That was much appreciated. A buffet or a la carte was available. To my pleasant surprise, the price was excellent. I expected a more expensive breakfast for a Marriott property on the beach. While I am thankful I did not have to come out of pocket for it during this stay, under normal circumstances, I would not complain. Speaking of the wedding, I didn't care for the ceremony setup on the beach. I don't know how much of that was on the couple who booked it or the hotel. Hardly any decor except for being on the beach. It wasn't even sectioned off from the public to any extent. Again, I don't know how much of that was on the hotel vs the planners. The reception food was decent hors d'oeuvres but the dinner itself was not enjoyable. Service was, again, excellent. Just not the food. The location is excellent. There's a small carnival / fair right outside the hotel, with a handful of rides, and plenty of places to eat. The boardwalk is also right outside the hotel, so there are additional places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. All of the rooms are beach front, which is a huge plus. The staff was wonderful. Special shout out to Erica, who was serving the tables for breakfast. Her services were very much appreciated and added to the overall enjoyment of our stay. Logan was also appreciated for his hard work and diligence with making sure everyone was okay. Cameron also provided exceptional service while ringing people up for their order and making the Starbucks orders. Overall, as I have come to expect with Courtyard and Marriott as a whole, you are paying for the brand, and in this case the location. Our stay, overall, was good, but even under a group rate, I would have expected more for the price. The staff and location are the only aspects that match the price point. On behalf of JGC Travel, 3 stars for this stay. I would like to give it 3.5 but I can't do half stars. The staff is enough to make me reconsider a return, depending on the price. The location is not enough when there are a plethora of hotels in the area, but it is a...
Read moreStaff where responsive and kind but issues where too many and unacceptable. It was not the Marriott experience we know!
15 years ago we got Marriott and stayed at this Marriott. Fast forward we returned for our wedding anniversary and reserved suite 216 and my mom.had an adjoining room next to us so we could all be together.
We drive 12 hours and upon entering the room there was water everywhere and floors buckling with water underneath from the a/c. The suite with filfthy with human hair, tissues, and qtips in the beedroom tables, floor, and windowsill. The counters and floors everywhere where dirty and sticky. Staff responded to fix the water a/c issues and I along with housekeeping cleaned. Yes after 12 hour drive I had to clean my hotel room I was paying for. The hotel was sold out so it was not a option to switch rooms. Staff where kind, we were given free breakfast vouchers, but it waa unacceptable what happened. That night we were woken up and kept up to a hissing vent sound.
Day 2- Exiting the bathroom to the bedroom I brushed my right arm accidentally againt the door and it scratched my arm up from the hanging material off the door.
At breakfast the dining area was filfthy, the floors and bottoms of everything and walls need a good scrubbing. Staff checked on us and offered a new room but we declined because we would then have to saperate from my moms adjoining room and asked for ear plugs.
We went about our day and that evening when returning to the room to change for dinner my husband was using the bathroom and water from the bathroom vent dripped on him. He thought maybe it was condensation and went to wipe it and s bunch of water poured out on to him and his clothes. We called and staff Adam who is great came back to check the vent put and upon removing the cover water was pouring out. I watched ad He immediatley unplugged the vent and contacted supervisor about the safety concerns of the room and for us to be moved. I cant help but think about the safety of this. What if we didnt catch it in time and there was a fire with my children and us in the room? We then switched rooms and had to saperate from my mom and due to having to move and repack it delayed our evening plans. We got a 2 queen room 1007 which was cleaner but still floors and counters where sticky/dirty. The bathroom wall has marks/stains on it and the bottoms bed curtain had stains.
The 1st floor lobby, dining, hall/pool area where dirty, run down. A/C dripping water on patio, gates in poor area all rusty. We have been a few times over the 15 years and it has never been this run down. I hope Marriott makes this right for us and improves this property it is not was...
