The Starlite Inn — Hotel in Carolina Beach

RESPONDING TO THEIR COMMENT: I can produce phone records that show you NEVER tried to contact me. Digital phone, digital records. And why would you try to call me, you claim to offer 24/7 check-in. I DO have digital records that I called the number that was posted on the door multiple times at 1AM trying to find someone who could get us into a room. You know, the phone number that claimed to be the emergency number for the hotel? We NEVER received a response back. The reservation was made through USAA, the bank for military servicemembers and their families. They are telling me that you refuse to issue any sort of refund, claiming that we checked in. In my experience, USAA is very helpful to its members. Did you lie to them? Because I do not believe USAA lied to me.

It has been two months since I requested a refund due to your error. Make it happen.

I was SUPPOSED to check in on 5/9. Got there, front desk was closed, locked, and dark, with a note on the door to call a certain number if we needed assistance. Called that number several times, NEVER had a response. Ended up getting a room elsewhere at twice the rate so we would have a place to sleep for the night. Now Starlite Inn is refusing to give a refund, saying that we had stayed there and had received service? Can they get any more fraudulent? DO NOT BOOK...

Edit: Update for the response left behind, and added pictures on text messages and an email that I received. Now tell me where you see a messaging app they tell you to use in these? Also in the email they LITERALLY tell you to call them. Seriously? Do better.

DONT STAY HERE. End of story. The location is great but everything else is horrible. The pictures are not accurate to what the room is. The rooms are dirty and the bed is hard as a rock. There’s sand, dirt, and hair everywhere throughout, including the shower, AND THE BED. We tried to raise concerns when we got here but management wasn’t around even though it was still within their operating hours. We left two messages about it and the next day heard nothing back. Went to sleep on top of the covers because they were so gross underneath we weren’t testing that. Got woken up extremely early by some sort of construction? We definitely weren’t notified that would be happening directly underneath our room. Left a message about that and didn’t hear anything back. Literally impossible to get ahold of anyone. Left a day early because the room is gross and we didn’t want to get woken up again on our vacation by construction that sounded like they were drilling right into the...

We booked a room here for a last minute trip to Carolina Beach and it was an amazing find. We wanted to be close to the beach without paying the exhorbitant rates for the beachfront hotels and found that we were only a quick 10 minute walk away, close enough that we were able to make quick runs back to the room if needed.

We arrived late on a Thursday night and were surprised with an amazing view of the fireworks show from the boardwalk across the street. There was a carnival over there as well. We walked to dinner at the nearby Shuckin Shack and the shrimp, oysters and cocktails we ordered were all wonderful.

Check in was easy with clear instructions and a key code for the door. The manager even called us to confirm our arrival time and ensure that we had everything we needed to get checked in with our late evening arrival. The king room itself was a bit on the small side, but we enjoyed the renovated yet kitschy retro vibe. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot with good pressure, and the wall unit ac was surprisingly powerful. We also made good use of the wifi. And the location is simply perfect.

All in all, it was a great value for the price and exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely...
