This place is great. It has been my go-to place for computer accessories for years. I first used them several years ago when I networked my house with CAT5 cable. I know I can get everything they sale on Amazon but, it is nice to go somewhere and grab the exact product and get help if needed. And, FYI, I am absolutely NOT a "computer nerd". I know little to nothing about computers and I knew very little about networking my house when I started. Since that initial purchase/project I have taken my laptop computer to get fixed. The tech told me that the hinged lid on the laptop was going to cost too much to fix and suggested that he permanently removed the monitor, add an auxiliary monitor and keyboard and make it a desk top computer. We have been doing that for a few years. This week my 80 year old mother -in-law brought her laptop over and said the keyboard wasn't working properly; she could only type numbers when she was trying to put in her password. I tried adding an auxiliar keyboard but the same issue happened. I took it to Altex and they called me two days later and said the password should be all numbers so, the password we were trying was obviously incorrect. We eventually deduced what her password was and magically it opened and the entire keyboard worked. Then they refunded my $80 evaluation fee. They really didn't need to do that. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! On my first visit, Ken and Michial tested the power supply to my old computer and said it was okay so it must be something else wrong and probably not worth fixing since it is four years old. Michial showed me the Altex AEB-i840 desktop computer that he felt would be best for me. Since I was not familiar with the Altex Brand, the next day, I went shopping at Best Buy, Office Depot and the Micro Center. Absolutely horrible service. In Best Buy and Micro Center, I was walking around for over 10 minutes looking at their computers and no one offered to help me. A young man at Office Depot was very nice but they had a limited supply of desktops. I decided right away that I would go back to Altex to buy my new computer. Katie was great in showing me the computer and explaining the benefits plus they have a 2 year warranty on parts and 1 year on labor. I bought the computer and the next business day, I returned with my old computer and new computer and Michial transferred everything from my old hard drive to my new hard drive plus mounted an adapter in my new computer to place the old hard drive as a backup drive. This place is very good place to go to. The people and staff here arr knowledgeable up to this point that I have seen. And no dislike or hate if at some point ome doesn't cause folks that's life and sometimes it's like our computers we also have to update and that means at times one may not know cause its new territory. But they were very nice helpful knowledgeable and quick to reply respond. I came in for a laptop charger. Got home and unfortunately cause it sometimes happens wasn't compatible. But since I live near by they quickly helped me get the adjustment. Then when doin to update to Mt computer they were also helpful woth some slight advice or info and directioning with doin do. They have stuff that will get ya locked into window shopping or wantin to buy stuff. So my fellow needs come get it. I liked it so much that when I have the moment I would like to fill out a job app and when they need and have n opening I may be abke to work there.
