Happy New Nails — Attraction in Cedar Grove

Poor experience on every dimension.

Communication with the staff was a struggle because almost no one spoke English. I called ahead to make mani pedi appointments for my girlfriend and myself. They didn't take down my name or number but told me what time to come in. We arrived about 10 minutes late (my fault) but then sat for 20 minutes before anyone even talked to us. It seems appointments are not really a thing they do. Everyone there was occupied with a client, so giving benefit of the doubt maybe they were short-staffed.

While I was getting my pedicure someone came over to do my manicure simultaneously. They did not ask if that was okay. They stood on one side the whole time and held my hand in the air. Reaching across the chair was very uncomfortable, but because communication was so confusing I let it be. They were simultaneously telling me to do different things with my hands and feet--it felt like that game of trying to rub your belly and tap your head. Totally disorienting.

My tech skipped a scrub that the other tech did for my girlfriend, even though we booked the same service, and wasn't thorough at all. Her tech spent about 10 minutes longer, but cut her cuticles so short she bled and then applied alcohol to clean the wound without warning, which burned. Even though it was still 30m to close, it was clear they wanted to wrap up and go home. I don't get my nails done often and was looking forward to a relaxing treat. This experience was not that.

My pedicure looks good but the manicure has sloppy edges from the person rushing and doing it while standing up. When I got home I had waxy residue on my heels from the heel soak they use. My girlfriend's nails came out better, but she got a clear coat so it's harder to tell. ...

I decided to try this place because my usual spot was booked for the day. Within 5 minutes of beginning the pedicure the salon worker got scalding hot water on my foot because she didn’t check the temperature and didn’t apologize or seem to care at all. She did the same thing with the paraffin wax. Instead of letting it cool a little she just took it off and didn’t even attempt again. She was rough throughout the the pedicure and got an attitude after I flinched from the pain. She was also muttering under her breath when I didn’t want to put my bare feet on the footrest which clearly hadn’t been cleaned in between customers. I definitely would not go there again.
