Midwest Mattress — Attraction in Cedar Rapids

Worked with Ben to buy my very first mattress. He was super helpful and helped me find an amazing deal! He walked me through the entire process and helped explain what I should be looking for without just spitting out numbers. Ben really helped make sure I was getting as much bang for my buck as we could and really took care of me.

They have a great selection of mattresses make in Tama or name brand Serta ones. They also had a great deal on electric adjustable bases, if you are looking for one. They have an awesome deal worked out with the manufacturer, so if adjustable frames are your thing, check them out for sure!

Midwest Mattress offered a great selection from as low as a $600 for a decent queen mattress up to really nice ones (2500+, out of my budget). I'd recommend going here first if you need a mattress, just to learn more even. Ben, who walked me through the process, was super patient and gave me awesome advice (not a commission based system, which was a breathe of fresh air).

It was just a great mattress shopping experience where all of the fees and costs were made clear ahead of time, so I wasn't surprised at checkout. Ben really took the principle of honesty (advertised on their site) to heart and it was phenomenal.

We reached our limit with tolerating our old mattress; especially with having to focus on COVID safety and Derecho damage. But we were also overwhelmed with the choices for such a long term purchase as a mattress. I walked into Midwest Mattress and was greeted by Kim and Ray on 1st Ave. in Cedar Rapids. I told them simply that “by the end of that day I will have purchased a bed and that it was going to be up to them if I purchased one from Midwest Mattress.”

Kim and Ray first explained how they were a local Iowa business and quickly deduced our needs. It was awesome that each style bed was named after a representative city in the state of Iowa.

In a matter of about 20 minutes I was down to choosing between just two beds. They made purchasing a bed easy, educated, and rational. They even helped incorporate our medical concerns with the choice of mattress and adjustable base. We even get a year to change mattresses if it does not meet our needs.

Our new bed arrives tomorrow and they will take care of every bit of its installation as well as the removal of the old one.

There was no pressure to go outside of my budget. These women know how to serve the public they attract. ABSOLUTELY consider the Iowa grown retailer Midwest Mattress when it’s time to make that all important purchase to improve your sleep and your health. You can trust they know what they’re doing.

Ray, from Midwest Mattress, was very thorough. Instead of speaking poorly of competitors, she educated me on mattresses, frames and what would best fit our needs.

She asked questions and listened to my answers. She heard what I said and routed me to only what I needed and not to all the bells and whistles. I appreciated that.

Ray was busy as she was the only one in the store. She did her best to take care of all the needs without compromising personal attention.

However, with her being busy, and a new IT system, there was an error on our order. It was caught after the payment but before I left the store. It was a significant difference. One I could not imagine them taking the loss. So I received a refund and walked out without an order. As the afternoon went on, Ray contacted me after visiting with the manager and presented a very reasonable negotiated price.

In all of this, Ray seemed sincerely apologetic but never once bad mouthed a competitor trying to pressure me to stay with Midwest. She actually told me to take time to think and get back to her.

I hope the mattress and the frame is everything we love. I see this purchase as an investment. If it is anything like Ray and her Customer Service, we will be very pleased.

Again, I would rather slam all 10 fingers in a car door than to mattress shop... but I am glad I took the time to shop around. ...
