Busy, well-utilized park. Love the bustle of local HS team practicing shot put/discus, frisbee golfers, pickup games at the basketball court. I don't have kids, but the children's playground equipment is always busy, and there is a splash pad (open in season), too.
Hiking trail is paved in the park, reaching the Menards store on Hwy 100. Going the opposite direction, an unpaved trail reaches Boyson Road. All the trail has some nice nature, even since derecho caused the loss of many trees. Through the length of this trail, you'll see deer, rabbits, squirrels, bats, owls, herons, ducks & geese. (Not all at the same times of day, tho'! 😂)
Trail is mostly flat, so is a good option for people of all fitness levels. If you're a more advanced exerciser, you can always explore some shorter trails (think it's part of the frisbee golf course proper), starting at the big hill up the hill from the basketball court, before you reach where the trail turns to head out toward the Menards. These feature steep hills, rougher terrain, and (since derecho) tree obstacles crossing the path, which you'll enjoy clambering...
Read moreI played here as a child a couple times, when I was younger this was always a fun trip to take. The playground equipment is basically the same as it's always been, no permanent injuries on my part but be weary if you bring your children here and be sure to keep an eye on them. The bathroom are usually opened in the summer when the nearby splash-pad is active. Always a fun activity to do in the sun horsing around in the fun filled waters of a modern day splash pad. Be sure to wear appropriate attire. There is a pavillion open to reservation near the playground equipment for all types of gathering though considering the proximity to the playground I would recommend using it for birthday parties or family reunions so be sure to book in advance. You can find local fauna in the wooded area and I personally have been able to secure a few fish from the nearest waterway "Indian Creek". So be sure to bring a pole if you don't mind catching a few throwbacks like bluegil...
Read moreThis is a large park with amenities for every age! We love visiting the big park, sand pit, and splash pad. There is a smaller park area for littles. It is beautifully kept with little to no trash anywhere. There are plenty of tables with shade for parties, play dates, field trips, and more. There are nice walking and bike trails available as well. Almost every time we go, we have a blast. The only issues we have had are specifically during the summer. You will have the typical unruly kids and what I would call "karen-esque" parents. Sprinkle in the occasional weirdo now and then. (Pretty normal occurances for a large park during the busiest season.) Most experiences with people here have been positive and we have made some great friends. We have never felt unsafe visiting here. Definitely worth a visit...
