I am deaf in my left ear. I told the waitress I could not hear because I am deaf in my left ear. She just looked at me with this dumb look. Still standing to my left, she said something and I told her I couldn't hear what she said. She still did not attempt to speak to me from the right side. I told her what my husband and I wanted to drink but she said "no, I will come back after he sits down." Are you kidding me??
I tried to tell her I did not want any sides, just the chimichanga but she couldn't understand that. I said "no rice or beans on the side, I just want the chimichanga" She kept asking if I wanted other things.
The food arrived and the chimi was drowning in melted cheese. The entire plate was covered. I cut into it and the oil from the cheese oozed out and mixes with the cheese. So gross. I tried to find food inside the chimi but there were only a few little bite size chunks of chicken and the rest was cheese. Almost no meat and gobs and gobs of cheese. I have never had such a disgusting chimi.
I couldn't eat it but I had dissected it and ate the 5 little tiny chunks of chicken. I pushed the plate aside and when the waitress had made a beeline for the table that just vacated to get her tip, she asked if we needed anything else. I told her I was done, I couldn't eat the meal. She grabbed her tip/check from the other table and a plate and didn't come back. Someone else went over and cleared the rest of 2 other tables and took my husband's plate. Our waitress didn't realize we were waiting for our check until after my husband took my plate and put it further away from us.
Useless waitress must be family to get away with being so lousy. She doesn't listen, is inattentive and oblivious to customers needs.
My husband liked his tacos. The salsa leaves a lot to be desired and the...
Read moreI had heard of this restaurant in the Gazette a while back and since I had some time, I decided to check it out.
The restaurant was pretty well decorated; colorful yet tasteful and some nice murals. I also appreciated the different types of Spanish music playing; it was a nice bit of variety I haven’t heard in other Mexican restaurants.
The chips and salsa were tasty. The chips were crispy and had the right amount of salt while the salsa had a nice consistency and the right amount of spice (in my opinion).
Anyone who wants to sit at the bar can watch pro soccer (or fútbol in Spanish) matches.
I ordered the Burrito de al Pastor (filled with seasoned pork and pineapple). The burrito had a nicely toasted tortilla with some flavorful pork and fillings. Initially, I had been somewhat disappointed that I couldn’t find any pineapple but the server ensured the pineapple had been mixed in well with the meat. He even offered to get me some more in case I wasn’t satisfied. I didn’t need any extra pineapple but the gesture was appreciated.
My server also had a good sense of humor and was pleasant company. He was a bit slow with getting back to my order but he was also handling other customers; I couldn’t fault him for that.
As a heads up to anyone getting a burrito here, they are quite liberal with cilantro. I can understand if anyone isn’t fond of the herb though it’s quite essential for Mexican cuisine.
Overall, I plan on a return visit to Rio Burritos. Hopefully much...
Read moreWas super excited to try this place out and it did not disappoint. When me and my husband got there, there was about 8/9 tables occupied already and only like 2 servers. It seemed like they were short staffed at the moment so we thought it would take a long time to get food out. Thankfully it wasn’t as I imagined. And even though our servers were so busy trying to serve everyone they were kind and tried to be as attentive as they could. (The other day we went to another restaurant where they were short staffed and one of the employees was clearly frustrated and did not hide that from the customers).
Their chips and salsa were really good and included! Such a big plus for us because we’ve been to other Mexican restaurants where it’s not and it’s honestly a big bummer. We had their queso birria tacos which were great! My husband did get a margarita which he felt was on the weaker side but not a deal breaker for us. We will definitely be returning and trying other dishes. Oh! As the evening went by there were more employees that showed up and were just as nice. One of them went around each table asking if they needed anything. Unsure if it might’ve been a manager or something. Either way,...
