I already made comments on Facebook, The better business bureaus, Yelp, and my online following which includes nearly millions of people - most here in iowa.
I work next door and come over everyday and on average spend about $100. I will admit I am an odd shopper and that’s because I am autistic, I have ausbergers, with that I have severe OCD, bipolar, and schizophrenia. As you can imagine I would rather be dead because of where I’m at, but mainly because of how people judge me and treat me.
I was there today, exploring the office supplies - arranging gift baskets because I am on the CHAIR of NAMI, United way, & I’ve adopted four families this year. So my shopping was spastic however you should never be able to accuse someone of stealing before they leave the exits and have committed theft. This was what an officer on duty told me that until I leave the store I have done nothing wrong.
Yet ZACH came over, condescending, firm, clearly set in his ways, clearly mocking me clearly on a power trip. It was 20% off day and I had been waiting for that day to do all my Christmas shopping, at least $2,000. But I got “kicked out”. He literally made me leave. This is discrimination and harassment. I respect most loss prevention and im FULLY aware of the retail laws and also the city laws, NEITHER of which i was in violation of.
If I am stealing, catch me as I’m walking out the door the right way 1 until then - it should be none of your business. Many other stores, restaurants, etc are all joining the movement to normalize the things that people need for their mental health.
Stuff ETC. Is clearly not doing that and is clearly far, far behind, I would like to hear if any disciplinary action took place and I would also like an exception d at where I can can AT LEAST get my 20% off even though this saga has earned a bigger discount than that.
Either way you will be featured on m famous blog, whether you get it together - or whether you embarrass yourself and be scrutinized for not accomodatijg those that struggle with severe mental illness. Let’s see how you handle it. The...
Read moreDROPPED this down to 1 star review after Gideon walked up to our cart tonight and confronted us over this review wanting answers as to why we posted it and contacted management!
Great place to go, but really horrible customer service today. Let's give you a full run down of why and what happened with us today!
Today, we took something to your employee, Gideon, at a register and asked for help with figuring out the price. His response "Does it have a price tag" and when we said yes, but before we could say we just needed some math help he goes "well , can't you look and figure it out". Whoa. Not an appropriate response. What if I had learning disabilities, or something else that made numbers hard? Or even reading hard? Very disrespectful, degrading, and humiliating.
Then, we went and asked for a manager. The sweet elderly lady there told us Brett was on duty, but was back in furniture. Cool. Went to chat with Brett about maybe a talk with Gideon on sensitivity or something to not make your customers feel like dog poop for asking for help. Get back there, and as we're walking up the girl answers the phone and it's the lady from clothing telling her that we are looking for Brett..... she goes ok and calls Brett. Well apparently Brett wanted to know why and she tells him that he's the manager on duty, we wanted him. He says he's busy, he'll try to make his way back there in a bit without even knowing why a customer is asking for help.
Coool... the girl actually tells us he's probably hiding on the floor somewhere. So did a casual walk through, and there's a Brett in Stuff t-shirt and name badge casually putting up housewares without a care in the world.... so it's obvious Brett didn't care about customers or his management responsibilities this day either.
I would say definitely be cautious asking the employees for assistance if it has anything to do with figuring out math or prices/sales dates. They are quick to embarrass you for...
Read moreI used to go to the Cedar Rapids location frequently, but I do not plan to go back. While in the store today, I had picked up a black shirt, carried it with me while I looked at other items, decided that I didn't want it, and put it back on the same rack where I had found it. I thrift frequently, and I believe that this is common behavior since you might find an item that you are considering and don't want someone else to take it while you make a decision. I have done this on plenty of shopping trips, including at this store, and have never been bothered. Today, a staff member came up to me after I had put the shirt back and asked about it. At first I thought she was just making conversation, asking why I decided not to get it, but her demeanor quickly made it clear that she thought that I had put the shirt in to my tote bag. She got quite close to me (while being unmasked) and asked me to show her where I put the shirt because if it wasn't put back correctly she would "lose her bonus." I have never been told this by a staff member at this store, and if that were really the case, I would expect that the clothing would be better organized than it is. After this interaction, I was uncomfortable and it was near closing, so I decided to leave rather than continue to browse. While I was starting my car, the woman who came up to me came out of the store, walked toward my car, and watched me leave. I would have much preferred being asked to open my bag and show that the shirt wasn't in there rather than experience this kind of disrespectful, cagey behavior over a...
