Third Base Brewery — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

I met a friend here for lunch today, she ordered an app, I had gotten the soup of the day and a side salad. Our server, Jessica, barely spoke to us. She didn’t really hold conversation, didn’t ask how we were, didn’t really seem overly interested to be working. For the simple items we ordered it took 20-25 minutes just for our food to come out, we only get hour lunches with at least 10 minute drive times. So not a lot of time to eat. We then are ready to pay our bill, mind you she hasn’t checked on us but one time and that was to bring me a Togo box. Obviously if I’m getting a to go box we’re fixing to leave...instead of coming back to give us our bill, we watch her walk through the bar, packing her Newport’s the entire way, and goes right outside. Doesn’t look around the bar, doesn’t come to check on her tables, nothing. So we give it a couple of minutes...nothing. So we walk up to the bar to see if there is anyone else that could help us, there wasn’t...we even called the bar FROM THE BAR. Do you know where they all were? Outside, on the patio, smoking.

My family has been coming to this place for years. Absolutely love the food, drinks, and service we have always received. I haven't been in a few months and came in this past weekend..unfortunately service was awful. When we were first greeted there was no welcoming conversation, nor positive energy coming from our waitress. Only my two younger kids got waters when we all asked for waters, we were ignored most the time after we were served to the point I had to go ask another waitress for boxes and the check. My husband had to get water from my daughters glass because no one served us. I didn't get ketchup for my daughter because there was no one coming to our table. The food was great as always, but staff that do this in the food industry can kill a restaurant. I always am a big tipper and believe in taking care of your waitress/server. I was a waitress for years in college.. And this was absolutely out of line, especially when I had 4 young children. Especially these days with inflation and having a big family.. All servers know that you run your tables like your own business. I didn't leave a very good tip and I'm starting not to when we have bad...

Third base is a nice pub and grub with self crafted beers and good food. We had the boneless wings with parmesan garlic sauce. The sauce was excellent, thick enough to stick to the wings without being overwhelming. The southwest egg rolls are basically chimichangas. We got the blt wrap with tator twists. The egg rolls were plenty and excellent. The wrap had tons of bacon and was really good dipped in the ranch. We finished the night with funnel cake fries with 4 different sauces. It came with caramel, marshmallow, chocolate and a raspberry sauce. All were good but the raspberry and marshmallow were the best, especially mixed together.
