As a concerned parent and longtime community member, Iâm deeply disappointed in the direction our local library has gone, especially in the childrenâs section. Rather than focusing on timeless stories, educational materials, and universally shared values, the library has chosen to showcase books front and center that promote divisive topics around gender identity, race ideology, and non-traditional family structures.
While I understand the goal of inclusion, whatâs happening here feels like ideological promotion rather than education. Childrenâs spaces should be neutral and age-appropriateânot politicized zones where young readers are confronted with complex and controversial subjects before theyâre even able to understand them.
Whatâs more frustrating is that this bias isnât limited to the kids' section. Across the library, displays overwhelmingly favor one side of highly debated social issues, with race and gender-focused titles turned outward and featured prominently, often at the expense of a more balanced or apolitical selection.
I urge the staff and leadership to reconsider what it means to truly represent the communityâand to ensure that the library remains a space of learning,...
Read moreI called in to schedule a private office so I may work and settle delicate personal matters. I requested any room which will have a telephone that I can use. Unfortunately they do not have any private office spaces with a telephone. Instead the Information Desk assistants tried to convince me to use the telephone in the hallway by the entrance instead. Which is not in any way private at all! This was not a solution for me. The gentleman that helped me reserve an office assured me there will be a telephone for use. I don't understand how such a well kept and funded library would not have any phones to use in a office space. So understand that these office spaces are basically a desk and a chair in a room. You have to bring your own equipment, just in case you decide to take time out of your day to take care of business. I learned my...
Read moreThis is one of the best libraries I've ever entered! They have a huge selection of books/movies/music/ebooks/etc, a coffee bar, used book store, meeting spaces, study rooms, and small theater on the premises! Their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I am here quite often, and encourage people to go there regularly. This is a great place to meet up for study dates, tutoring, meetings, and educational events (they even have board/video/computer games available for people who just want a place to play and hang out with their friends). The venue is accessible for people with disabilities, child-friendly (kids have their own space to explore, play, and read), and offers a wide variety of programs geared towards a varied audience (game nights, book clubs, "meet the author" events, medicare informational...
