Thank you so much for the wonderful lady who was there that afternoon. We hit all the recommendation spots driving back down to Santa Fe from after the Old Scenic Train ride in Chama old town. Echo Amphitheater, Ghost Ranch and even a 40mins dirt road (one way) drive to The Monastery of Christ In The Desert !! We would not have know about the monastery if its not for her so thank you very much again !! ❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 They also have free map of all local and nearby businesses and places of interested.

while in Chama old town main road, look out for green signs that says Frybread Navajo Taco. You wont be...

I see the positive reviews and am confused because the lady behind the counter when we were there was not helpful at all. She didn’t greet us and acted like she didn’t want to answer our questions. I get that they must get a lot of questions and probably the same ones over and over, but isn’t that what they are there for? We asked about public access to the river and she literally told us to go south of town and look for a brown sign. 😳 Then she went back to whatever she was doing on her computer. She gave us 2 words of an obscure website to look up but it didn’t work. Was not...

This little Welcome Center is a very good stop if you're looking for a bathroom break. They also sell ice cream bars in the summer. Is clean air condition and well-maintained. The outside grass areas will shaded with picnic tables. For those hiking through town there is a collection box where fellow hikers can drop off or take needed supplies. I've been through trauma many times but this is my first stop I was pleasantly surprised to see the service in...

This visitor center has every brochure, magazine, and info card for northern New Mexico all in one place. Quite the place for spending a bit of time in order to fully grasp how much there is to do in the Chama region as well as points east and west. Nice staff, very knowledgable.
