Northern New Mexico Welcome Center — Attraction in Chama

Thank you so much for the wonderful lady who was there that afternoon. We hit all the recommendation spots driving back down to Santa Fe from after the Old Scenic Train ride in Chama old town. Echo Amphitheater, Ghost Ranch and even a 40mins dirt road (one way) drive to The Monastery of Christ In The Desert !! We would not have know about the monastery if its not for her so thank you very much again !! ❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 They also have free map of all local and nearby businesses and places of interested.

I see the positive reviews and am confused because the lady behind the counter when we were there was not helpful at all. She didn’t greet us and acted like she didn’t want to answer our questions. I get that they must get a lot of questions and probably the same ones over and over, but isn’t that what they are there for? We asked about public access to the river and she literally told us to go south of town and look for a brown sign. 😳 Then she went back to whatever she was doing on her computer. This little Welcome Center is a very good stop if you're looking for a bathroom break. They also sell ice cream bars in the summer. Is clean air condition and well-maintained. The outside grass areas will shaded with picnic tables. For those hiking through town there is a collection box where fellow hikers can drop off or take needed supplies.
