Subway — Restaurant in Chama

I realize that, in such a small tourist town, this place doesn't have to try very hard as they don't have to relay on repeat customers, and it Really shows. The place was very run down and dirty, doors for propped open with chairs, no maintenance have been done at all on the place so every leak stain on the ceiling was left, holes in the walls were never repaired and the bathroom looked like an old service station restroom. The food was covered but the lettuce had oxidized and many of the other choices looked limp and old. I got a roast beef footlong meal. I can't exactly put my finger on what was wrong with it, it's simply was incredibly bland even though I had asked and saw him add salt and pepper to it. The bread felt doughy but it looked done. The place was run down and dirty but I can't really explain what it was about the sandwich that made me take three bites wrap it up and throw the rest to the birds. Just down the road, probably less than a mile, is a barbecue restaurant called serious Texas BBQ and it is delicious. There is also the Elkhorn Cafe outside of the Elkhorn Lodge and it is, likewise, very good. There are not a lot of choices in Chama, but one of the worst that you can make...

Manager to staff were the rudest people I’ve encountered anywhere at any time. when questioning six slices of turkey, sliced paper thin on a foot-long sandwich The establishment came and glued. They Insisted I paid for the sandwich before I ordered so I did not see how scant the they meat was on the sandwich. I told them I just wanted my money back that I would go elsewhere. I would not be able to sustain a low blood sugar with that little protein. The guy that made the sandwich came out from behind the counter and I was told they didn’t give refunds, even though I had not touched The sandwich. they hadn’t even put the vegetables on it, and they put the turkey on behind their silver hood Of course, for the customer cannot see how little meat they put on. See the picture below. &16.00 they charged. The manager was contacted. He refused to give me a refund and I was told not to come back. I guess I’ll have to take that up with my credit card company. I learned something don't pay for anything...

Really poor experience. From the outside, it is very pretty. But once in line to order, they only had enough bread for three 6" sandwiches at 7:15 on Sunday evening. It was another 40 minutes for more bread. One 6" white and one 12" honey wheat (and one flatbread). There were three of us eating and there were two more in line behind us. We had promised our kids they could have soda with dinner, then were informed it would be extra because they do not keep the small cups. Not only was it an up charge, they did not even ring them as kids meal with an upgrade. It was processed a-la-carte. I wanted to drink sweet tea, but the closest thing carried here is raspberry tea and half & half tea and lemonade. Or use sugar packets, but just not the same. I had the needed to use the bathroom while there. One sink is missing the knobs. The only trash can in the men's room was a foot operated lid... But would not open. Good looking place, and nice girls... But beyond that, don't...
