It is most difficult to post an objective review seeing as how i have my entire life's history with this beach. I love this place. My childhood and my best memories are because of this beach. I have fought for this beach and my beliefs of what's right. I have bled and laughed and experienced every emotion possible on this beach. This one mile stretch of sand is worth fighting for. The view is better than Malibu. The Anacapa and Santa Cruz Islands are so close it feels as though you can touch them. The beach is my family. We come from all walks of life. From billionaires and movie stars to those of us less affluent. We all say hi to each other with a smile on our face. Because this IS our beach. Don't ever take our kindness for weakness. We are here because of a certain enlightened set of values and appreciation. Remember that when you visit and do something as crass as throw a piece of trash on our grounds. Localism is not just a negative scowl when someone from outside visits. If you get a negative reaction out of one of us, I think you best reflect upon yourself and your actions. Our localism suggests that you leave the place better than you found it. We take pride in our community and we welcome stranger's with open arms. There are but few unspoken rules. If you can't figure out why we police our shoreline, it's because you are not enlightened yet and best be stepping light until you learn. Treat every single person with more respect than you treat your own family, and we shall return the...
Read moreThis is a beautiful location to go to: Watch the surfers, the birds, the aquatic life, the waves, the people strolling up and down between each jetty. See beautiful rocks, have friendly dogs bump noses, see kids build endless Sandcastles, see the sea lions and seals dance on the water and bark at each other, watch the shipping containers sail between the sand and the islands and just enjoy the beach. Great place 1000 percent recommend. Staff keeps bathrooms tip too. Most people are respectful. Only sad thing is the place closes at dusk. 24 hours would be lovely... But would probably be abused. Sigh... When you are there if you see some trash pick it up... And don't leave any... This is a...
Read moreIt’s an unincorporated neighborhood nestled between the Naval Base and the Pacific Ocean. There is basically plenty of room for any family activity, or even a day out on the boat. There is a miniature manmade beach toward the beginning of the neighborhood, just around the corner is a selection of some pretty delicious foods. Unfortunately, Big Daddios is no longer open but I highly recommend The Jetty Surf Cafe and Quincy Street if you’re looking for a bite to eat. Overall it’s a quiet relaxing neighborhood. But, if you ever happen to catch yourself in the area on the 4th of July. You’ll run into a lot of fun! Just be respectful. I grew up here and wouldn’t have traded it...
