Hobie Beach is one of three legal entry points for the general public to Channel Islands Harbor for kayaks, canoes, and SUPs (the others are at Seabridge Marina, in the far northeastern extremity of Channel Islands Harbor, and a dock next to the launch ramps on Curlew.) There is an old and somewhat eroded mini-launch ramp, and during most of the year, a small beach that is hidden when the tide is over 3 feet. There is free parking in the dirt area adjacent to the launch. Hobie Beach is made up of the area between Kiddie Beach Park on the south and the Coast Guard Station to the north along South Victoria Avenue. From this put-in, there are many miles of paddling available within the harbor, plus easy access to the Pacific, Hollywood Beach, and Silver Strand Beach. It's often easier to launch here than from those beaches during higher swells. PFDs must be carried on all boats and SUPs here, and the Harbor Patrol vigorously enforces this.
