They have had my laptop over 3 months. The first time it was fixed they didnt bother to charge the battery to see if it worked. There excuse was....... we didnt have your password??? they could have called and gotten it just as easy. The second time they claimed it was the mother board. but they said they returned the mother board to HP and HP sent it back saying it was ok???? still not fixed. they promised to ship my laptop to me but yet 3 days after my call its still sitting in the shop??? i have no idea what the excuse will be now. 3 months later and still no laptop. Maybe they should stick to buying/selling/repairing phones???
Update, I just got my laptop by mail. 20 years of files, pictures and personal items that cant be replaced was supposed to be downloaded to an external hard drive.... My computer isnt worth being a boat anchor now. I was willing to deal with the no sound issue. But now i dont have any files at all, no operating system...... Nothing. I will give them an opportunity to make good on this if not then handle it legally. In the mean time i would watch what i take there. they may be ok with older stuff.... but if its a few years old take it to a mainstream repair place. yes, you may pay more, But it will be the way to go.... I cant wait to hear the excuse for this..
9-3-17 update
I have been working with the store manager for the past 3 weeks trying to get this resolved. He promised to call me back, HE doesn't (NO SURPRISE) He promised to mail me a USB drive to reload my windows 10 professional...... he didn't (NO SURPRISE) He told me he had spoken to his people about returning peoples calls to let them know what was going on.... they dont (NO SURPRISE) Now i have a USELESS $1700 laptop that worked that i now cant use. They deleted all my files, pictures that i had saved for the last 20 years. Work files that cant be replaced, memories gone and all the drives. I cant even get my DC-ROM drive to open so i can load windows from a disc. these guys destroyed a great laptop all because of a charging port. now the manager is avoiding my calls and the store is screening my calls. I have been more than patient working with them to try and resolve this issue but they continue to avoid doing the right thing. so here is my advice..... Take your PC some place else because only god knows how many computers these folks have destroyed and told the owners the rye computer wasn't fixable. Now i have no choice but to take legal action to include go after them for what it cost me in legal fee's. I tried, I tried to work with them and they just...
Read moreI just left this store and wish I had taken the time to go out of town instead. I was quoted lower prices, and they agree to take it down to $125 plus tax for a screen repair - still higher than others quoted me. I stayed while he repaired it. I asked what the warranty was. I was told it has a 14 day warranty (really - if your work is good I would assume at least 30 days??). I WISH I had read the other reviews before coming here. Along with the screen being cracked the camera lense was also broken. That was going to cost another $60 something plus tax, which I’ll take to another shop to have repaired. Once the screen was repaired, he tells me the phone is disabled which would have cost another $49.99 and tax, which I also declined, as I know all we need to do is connect it to a computer with Itunes to restore it. I told him up front my grandson has an Ottterbox (which he wasn’t using and why it broke) and I have new screen protectors at home, yet he kept trying to up-sell me those items. I asked about a couple different phones and then he began to try to up-sell me on those when I already advised I was only looking to get the screen repaired today. I have no idea if this phone will work, but I did call Apple to ensure I understood how to restore it. He said most repair stores, including an Apple Store would have repaired everything for one price. Not these people. If this phone doesn’t work and they don’t make it right I’ll happily pay the court costs for small claims court. Trying to help a small business and this is what you get! Do yourself a favor and call around/go out of town! I’m happy for all those with no issues, but I would avoid at all cost!
Finally- I just called a couple 5* stores in Maryland and Virginia and was told it would’ve cost me $90 for the screen repair and $45 for the camera lens so basically the same thing I paid for just the phone screen to be repaired. The guy I spoke with last offered me a discount due to what I had been through with this guy in Charles Town....
Read moreI had a very bad ripoff experience at the ConnectaCell store in Charles Town, WV. I guess their tech saw an elderly person with a broken cell phone and took advantage of the fact I wasn’t knowledgeable about prices for new phones. I overpaid for my cell phone and set up. (The set up was carelessly and haphazardly done.) Unfortunately, I agreed to purchase a screen saver. Their tech slapped an adhesive backed plastic item on the phone. There were air bubbles which made my screen very unattractive. Several months later I accidentally knocked my phone off the coffee table and some cracks in the screen saver developed. When I went back to the store I was told there’s only a 15-day warranty on their phones. The tech took my phone apart and told me the phone’s screen was broken and he could replace it for $200. (Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.) So I took my phone to Best Buy in Martinsburg and they took the old plastic screen saver off and charged me $25 for a new one. The screen of the phone was not broken as I’d been told at ConnectaCell. Think twice before you go to this dishonest...
