BAD steaks, TINY kids meals, DIRTY restaurant, DRYEST baked potatoes Iâve ever had. I want to preface this review by saying I know people who enjoy eating here so maybe my experience is atypical. I took the family here as the wife and I wanted steaks and we heard they had great steaks. As we first arrived, a black board meant to have the dayâs specials simply said âcheck our website for specials.â Wow, we canât update a black board once a day? After being seated at a booth that was rather dirty (and the floor disgusting) we did in fact check the website for specials. When the waitress came out, I asked some questions. She said she didnât know anything about the specials and left. She came back after conferring with another employee and misquoted some info about the special. We soldered on and ordered the Sunday steak specials. My wife had a 6 ounce top sirloin and I had the 6 oz rib eye, both with salad bar and baked potato. My kids ordered off the childrenâs menu. They are 7 and 9 years old and their portions were very small. They both cleaned their plate and complained of being hungry. Not typically an issue for them. I ordered my steak medium rare, my wife medium well. They were brought out and both were cooked appropriately. My wife complained that hers tasted awful. I tried it and indeed it almost seemed broiled. It had no flavor. My ribeye was pink in the middle but still had zero flavor. Iâm not sure these steaks even had a little salt and pepper put on prior to cooking. They were the worst steaks Iâve been served by a restaurant in terms of taste. Both steaks were fairly tough and had a lot of gristle, which means they were not good cuts and were not prepped well. Hereâs the weird thing: even the baked potatoes tasted kinda bad. Iâve never had a bad baked potato before, but they were extremely dry and not hot enough to melt butter. I suspect they make them early and sit them under a heat lamp for hours, otherwise I have no idea how they got that way. So, lousy steaks, lousy potatoes. I will say the salad bar seemed pretty decent, although I was disappointed there were no croutons or Caesar dressing out. The spinach leaves were a little limp and lifeless. Just didnât seem very fresh, although most of the other veggies were good. The waitress asked how the food was and I said the service has been pretty good, but I canât lie this food is no good. She just said, âoh, sorry to hear that.â There was no effort made to learn what wasnât up to standard or to address it with management (to be fair we did eat all our food, and I wasnât looking for free meals or anything, I just wanted a chance to tell them it coulda been better). In summary, this was a $70 meal and it was LOUSY. We agreed we are not...
Read moreOkay I came to get my birthday reward and I decided to try the cheesecake...and I was impressed it's actually good cheesecake not the nasty thick log sold in stores! It's creamy, cheesy, not too sweet, and thankfully they had raspberry syrup to go with! I'm not a fan of strawberry topping usually, and the raspberry is a nice dark tart flavor. Absolutely great I would get again. The lady behind the bar was lovely and helped in my decision because I was worried it would be like the turtle cheesecake they had that was that thick overly sweet "cheesecake" ...I'm pretty sure they get these shipped from Juniors because it tastes just like Juniors in NY. It is the cream cheese variety, not the Italian ricotta, and honestly I'm on my third day and going to finish it later because it is way too much for one desert but it lasts a few days! I worked at rubys a long time ago and the food was ok, I'm not impressed by the burger I had before it was a bit greasy for me, like the bottom of the takeout box was soaked ...but the mushrooms were good, I'm definitely thinking about trying the ribs while I have a rewards discount although good beef ribs are hard to come by. The broccoli is really good lol everyone loved the steam broccoli and the salads when I worked there. It's not a bad place though especially in comparison to other things in the area, definitely sign up for their rewards club...
Read moreA friend and I had dinner here a few weeks ago because my friend had a coupon. The parking lot was more full than usual and we were prepared to wait for a bit before being seated but we were pleasantly surprised when we got seated right away and our server was welcoming us within minutes too! I regret not remembering her name because she was perfect. She was there when we needed her and she was very patient with the decision delay of what to order (final answer is not my friendâs strong suit). We both had the bourbon salmon with rice and zucchini and a margarita that was on special that visit. Everything was absolutely delicious and the salmon was cooked to perfection. I rarely finish a whole meal in a restaurant but I cleaned my plate and it was the exact amount of food without leaving me hungry or over stuffed. My friend ordered the Dulce de leche Sunday for dessert and the 2 bites I had were also very good. I am a small biz that likes supporting other small local businesses over chain restaurants whenever possible but this location has a bit of a local feel and is consistent in the quality, value and friendly service they provide. I recommend keeping it in your rotation as a consideration...
