It's difficult to write this review, but wanted to share our experience. My children had been patients at Bird since they were toddlers, and initially they received excellent care. I was really happy with our experience, so that when they went out of network with our dental plan I chose to keep my kids at Bird anyway.
Over time, I felt that the quality of care had declined--the staff sometimes seemed rushed, distracted, or impatient, but other times things were fine. It wasn't serious enough to consider changing practices.
About a year ago, I really noticed a change. They were trying to hard-sell us a lot of orthodontic work for my daughter (after making us wait 30 minutes past our appointment time; they managed to see us only after I asked if we could reschedule due to the length of time we had been waiting), even after I explained that she was already seeing another orthodontist and we were following their treatment plan. They called relentlessly for months, even though I kept telling them that she had another orthodontist and we were following their plan.
At our last appointment, the hygienist was very brusque with me. She had questions about an update in my son's medical history, but she kept talking over me when I tried to answer and finally sent me to the desk, where they said they didn't need anything additional. So I returned to the area where they clean everyone's teeth, where dentist informed me that my daughter had EIGHT cavities. A child who had made it into her teens without a single cavity and who I knew brushed and flossed regularly suddenly had eight cavities? We were shocked.
Because of the extent of the work "needed" and the fact that Bird was no longer on our dental plan, I scheduled a follow up with an in-network dentist the following day. I was shocked again when that dentist said that she had ZERO cavities and everything "looked great." I was so confused that I started looking through reviews of Bird, and was disappointed to see that apparently there is a pattern of them recommending unnecessary dental work on children. I used to really love this practice, but I have since moved my children to another provider and would no longer...
Read moreI can not say enough great things and the Bird Dentistry Practice. My son had been seeing another doctor who pretended he knew about little people's teeth and unforunately knew nothing. Dr Bird was kind and understanding not only about the amount of work that needed to be done but also about my son's special needs to get them done. We attempted work in the office were successful the first visit from then on my son was unable to handle the it with just gas. She went slow and tried several times with me in the room, with me out of the room and after, with a break. Nothing worked, through it all she did not lose her cool, she did not get upset we just talked options.
After deciding that the hospital was our option Cynthia (my hero) spent hours on the phone with our insurance company to help us get his out patient dental work approved and then helped us work out a payment situation that worked for all of us. She sat with me and we verified all the information together and I feel the communication and time was over and above.
My daughter, who has no dental "issues", also sees Dr Bird. She has no anxiety or stress and wants to know when she gets to go to the bird house again.
Overall I think Dr Bird's staff is great they communicated all charges, all treatment plans, and all options to us at every step. They also took the time to help us find the best fit...
Read moreSuch a great practice! Dr. Bird and her staff are just wonderful. My daughter is 3 years old and need to have some fairly serious work done. She had a pretty bad cavity that needed to be filled and seal with a stainless steel cap. This required general anesthesia- as any parent this was unsettling for me. When I was a kid they never put us under, ultimately they would pull it or just numb it. During the whole process Cynthia, the office manager was so thorough- from the insurance part of it to the complete run down of the procedure. She provided a complete folder with the anesthesiologist information along with Dr. Gulati and her background. I was continuously informed and never had any surprise. A couple of days before the procedure my daughters pediatrician had concerns- her opinion only. Cynthia offered to have the anesthesiologist call me. I was so appreciate- talk about the extra mile here! The doctor called to go over what he would do and calmed my nervous. It truly was the best experience ever- going out of there way to make sure I was comfortable. We are new to the practice and I have been welcomed in the warmest ways. The ladies even at the front desk were so kind to offer me tissues as I sulked when they took my daughter in the back for her procedure. Its the little things like this that make a difference. Thank you so much! You guys...
